Had their specials. Great tuna tartare appetizer. Mediocre black ravioli– not sure how you end up with dry and tough ravioli but we had it. Pasta with tuna felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp too long. And as others mentioned they put a basket of bread on your table and charge you € 4 for it without you asking. Not the end of the world but tacky. My guess is that after all the initial good reviews that couldn’t scale the kitchen to match the traffic

Stopped in for a Monday afternoon lunch based on a recommendation. We had a great table by the open door/window. This turned out perfect when it started to rain! We started with a bottle of Pinot Grigio Rose(25 euro) which was nice and dry. For a starter we had the Seabass Ceviche with pineapple and arugula. Fabulous! For the pasta we shared the Duck Ragu over Paparadelle noodles. It was good but not fantastic. The service was the right amount of attention but not overbearing. We skipped dessert as gelato calls.

Decent food overall, my asparagus scallop risotto was pretty good and an interesting take on risotto, and the roasted bread croutons which they gave us were pretty good. In addition, we enjoyed the grilled vegetables and fried shrimps, which were pretty good, but not amazing. Not the best food we’ve had so far, but definitely pretty decent.

Wonderful place recommended by hotel staff. I had the fettuccine with truffles and it was good. For someone who doesn’t know much about wine, we had a great one for a great price! I would return and would recommend.

Fantastic food, great service. Wonderful introduction to Roman cuisine. Pasta was as fresh as can be, and wait staff all wear suspenders with their designer jeans. Great combination of traditional and modern at reasonable prices tucked just off the tourist track.

Off the normal path of the Spanish Steps shops but well worth the 5 min diversion. For Starter highly suggest the Parmigiana Aubergines(eggplant) It is finely shaved eggplant over melted mozzarella and Tomato with Arugula basil and almond Pesto Fantastico

Another great place away from the tourist trap path. High quality food in a really attractive setting — north of the historic centre, around pizza di spagna neighborhood. The best dish was the papardelle with mushrooms and pancetta, though the cacio e pepe and the amatriciana we had were also excellent. Sangiovese wine to accompany dinner was pretty good. From the desserts get the Panna Cotta(comes in three small jars, one with dark chocolate sauce, another with caramel and the last with a fig preserve). We also got tiramisu, but it was subpar(kind of dry, not really anything like what tiramisu is meant to be) — only weak thing we ordered. Only complaint is the 4 euro bread basket of not great bread that is dropped on the table even when not requested. Otherwise, service is pretty good and I recommend a reservation as it gets very busy starting ~730pm

What drew me into this place was the décor/ambiance, which you could observe from the street. There were about 4 tables out front when we arrived, all occupied, so we sat inside at one of the two-top tables with the booth against the wall for one of the seats. It was the first table in from the door, but was not at all inconvenient or bothersome being right next to the entrance. The exposed brick, white subway tile, classic signs with cheerful phrases and hand-written quotes on the windows encouraging you to enjoy life gave me plenty to take in and smile at while I awaited my food. Shortly after sitting down, a server dropped a small canvas bag filled with bread on our table. The top layer was comprised of small seasoned & toasted pieces, like croutons. They were so delicious, we asked for seconds! However, it was a bit disconcerting to see that we were charged 4 euro for the bread basket when we got our bill. I have a bit of an issue with charging for something that is pretty universally given for free, particularly when we didn’t ask for it, nor were we asked if we wanted it, it was just placed on the table. I did happen to notice they do this for every table that comes in, so it wasn’t just us. Their wine selection is pretty sizable, and they seem to feature several different wines by the glass on a daily basis, which are noted on a separate menu and written on a chalkboard on the wall. However, a house wine would have been nice for the more budget-conscious: I didn’t see any glass less than 7 euro or bottle less than 25 euro or so. My husband and I each had a glass of Sauvignon, which was tasty. We shared the soup of the day for a starter, which was a white bean and tomato soup. It was DELICIOUS, and so filling! It came in a small covered pot sitting on top of a wooden board, and it was plenty for the two of us. So flavorful yet simple — I will definitely be trying to replicate this at home! The only unfortunate thing about the soup was that it didn’t leave much room for our pasta. I got the spaghetti with red pepper flakes, EVOO, garlic and breadcrumbs — simple and DELICIOUS! This was probably my favorite pasta dish throughout my 2-week Italian vacation. I just wish I had more room to finish it! Clearly homemade pasta, cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was on point. My husband got the Penne Arrabbiata, which he said was also his favorite of the trip. It had just the right amount of kick; so flavorful. Again, the unfortunate thing was that we left no room for dessert. The bathroom was pretty decent, especially compared to others I’ve experienced throughout my travels through Italy. There was one door to enter, with two stalls inside, one labeled for women and the other for men. The soap smelled lovely, which again, has been hard to come by(unfortunately). The service was friendly and efficient. The fact that everyone spoke enough English to help me get through the meal was also very much appreciated. In short, I loved the food here(having had my favorite pasta dish from my 2-week trip throughout Italy), and the ambiance was very much to my liking. It’s not the cheapest lunch you’ll find in the area, but worth the money in my opinion. Our soup, bottle of water, 2 glasses of wine and 2 pasta dishes totaled 57 euro. I’d recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Really good meal in a cool space with attentive wait staff. We enjoyed all of our dishes, appetizers, pasta and main dishes. Solid wine selections as well. I’m a Dilla fan and will dine there again next time I’m in Rome!

Quaintly delicious with a big enough wine selection and menu grand enough to guarantee you will be full before dessert! The roast chicken is so moist and tasty! Must go! Note there are limited tables so a reservation is wise if you want to make sure you get to enjoy this hidden gem!

My fiancé and i visited this trendy restaurant by the Spanish Steps in Rome in June of 2012. The bruchetta was very, very good. Crusty homemade bread with the most flavorful tomatoes you can imagine. I was really glad our server had recommended it Our Main entrees were both pasta, one being lasagna, and they were good, not great. We ordered some type of cake that is filled with Chantilly lace cream. It was probably the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life. I tried to stop eating it but literally ate every single bite. The thing my boyfriend and I loved most about Dilla was the ambience of the place. It was fun and modern but very cozy all at the same time. Great music was being played and our service was excellent. I would definitely return if I ever back in Rome !

I hated this place so much, we had to buy second-dinner after it. We came here on the recommendation of a friend, who clearly had a better experience here than we did! The place is very cute, and it’s in a nice location, in an alley near the Spanish steps. That’s where the pros ended. This was the ONLY place we went to in Rome that charged us a service charge — 3 euro per person. Insulting. Second, we did not ask for bread, but it was brought(the waiter quickly dropped it and then ran off before I could protest) and then we had to pay 4 euro for it(I did not see this marked anywhere on the menu). Adding insult to injury, that bread was tooth-breakingly hard. No one working in the place could ever have tried this bread and then served it to their customers. It was coated in butter and then baked/fried. I would guess that it was days old. My entrée was awful. I left hungry. I ordered a cuttlefish salad that was also supposed to be filled with fresh seasonal vegetables. I had never heard of cuttlefish, so I guess I should have thought twice on that, but a salad sounded good to me, and I didn’t think i would be served something inedible! The veggies in the salad consisted only of sauteed carrots and zucchini. The cuttlefish was absolutely inedible. Unchewable. Little bits of pure, unappetizing, tasteless rubber. All I could eat was some of the veggies(covered in oil) and the arugula and gnaw on something of the croûton bread trying not to break my teeth on it. My husband liked his seafood pasta. I thought it was awful. It tasted so fishy and nasty to me. Our wine was pricey and bad. Overall, this was the most expensive, insulting meal we had during our whole trip to Europe. I’ve uploaded a picture of our insulting receipt. Oh, and we did not get any free wifi here(another review said she did).

Started with the octopus salad. Followed by the fettuccini with black truffle and ended with the meat balls. Excellent treat for your tastebuds from start to end.

This was a lovely find. We were wondering around for a while trying to avoid the main streets and the rain and noticed this beautiful cosy looking restaurant. Truthfully, I was also attracted to the shorter and simpler menu. We shared beef tartare to start followed by a truffle fettucini each. Along with a jug of house wine it really was a delicious and enjoyable meal. We seemed to get lucky and had no problem getting a table however when a queue started to form we felt like we were under pressure to finish up and leave so they could have the table back. Not something that really bothers me as the staff were lovely and the food was great and we had taken our time over our meal.
