I love Conad. The store is organized and clean. Though they have a wide selection of different foods they don’t have some of the basics. There is a deli within the store.
The prices are reasonable for one on a budget. I’d suggest those who live in Trastevere shop here. Plus there’s a department store above.

Conad served as our go to supermarket while spending the week in Rome. It’s a bit deceiving as it’s tucked away in the basement of the Oviesse department store right on the main road (viale Trastevere)
They have a great selection of most everything you need at very reasonable prices also beer and wine! The meat selection was fresh, good quality and price! They even have a small fresh seafood selection in the back!
Picked up some «on special» emmenthal chess @ 2 euros a piece! They have liken the US or Canada your regular weekly specials!
One thing you must get use to in Italy however when buying fruit/​produce is that you must weigh it on the scale and print out a weighed price tag from the machine!
Also much cheaper to buy your bottled water or soft drinks to stock up then from the street vendors! most 500 ml bottles are under 50 euro cents. The 1.5 L go for some under 1 euro.
****Be advised *******you must buy plastic bags at 5 euro cents a piece or bring your own!
