Just returned from a trip to Bracaleone, after a recomendation from our hotel. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but then it was Saturday at 9pm, and they brought us a glass of wine while we waited. The ambience is quite nice, although I was not expecting Bob Marley music to be playing at a restaurant in Rome. I had no complaints though, since I’m a huge fan. The menu is varied, and we ordered a variety: Antipasto All’italiano(a sampler of cold cuts, prosciutto, cheeses, olives, artichoke hearts), bruschetta, a couple different spaghettis, a mushroom pizza, gnochi, and Florentina alla brace(a massive, one kilo steak). The food was universally good, with the Florentina alla brace being the standout. It was perfectly cooked, and one of the best pieces of beef I’ve ever eaten. It was quite pricey, especially when you’ve been enjoying their liter of wine for 7 euros. The rest of the menu was quite reasonably priced, with my friends getting out under 10 – 15 euros.

The food was good, but everything took ages!!! We waited about 15 – 20 mins just to order the food, and then we waited another 25 – 30 mins on the food. My pizza was very hot, and wasn’t eatable, so we asked kindly to order a new one. The waiter said she’d bring a menu, and after 15 mins of not getting the menu, my boyfriend got one of the waitresses and asked to make an order of a new pizza(he was then finished with his food). We then got told that the waitress couldn’t take our order, so we had to wait for another one. We finally got the pizza and noticed that other people around also was a bit irritated. We asked to pay, and so did the couple sitting next to us. They had already asked twice for the bill, and got even more irritated when we got ours before them. We may have gone in there on a bad day, but we spent approx. 2 hours to eat 2 pizzas!!!

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was tasty. Obviously caters to tourists, but hides it well and the prices were not too bad. I will add that I ordered a steak to be cooked medium, and when it came it was most definitely well done. Waitress asked what I wanted to do, and I asked to bring me one cooked properly if it wouldn’t take too long. She came back in 10 mins with one cooked a little more than what I would call medium, but very tasty. We were happy when we left. We plan to return when in the area again, and I think I’ll move the star count higher as a result.

We stopped in last night at 10:30 for a light bite. We had a spicy pizza and rocket(arugula) salad with tomato and buffalo mozzarella. Best pizza we have had in Italy so far– perfect thin crispy crust, Great atmosphere and house red and white wines were delicious. Very nice.

Visiting from California… Looking for a local place, walking distance from Londra & Cargill hotel. What a find! Home style with family running the show… Including a 10 year old doing her home work and playing with younger customers. Loved it. Good service, great steaks, a veggie salad that was fresh and really tasty; house wine well above house wines we have had in the past. And a tiramisu that was so different and light and good… I don’t like tiramisu but this changed my mind! Warning! The front door gets stuck… If the open sign is on… Just keep trying. Someone will open it from inside. Truly homey!!!
