In the land of amazing pasta we figured we had to check out a place named after our favorite dish. Place is slightly elegant but nothing over the top. Dishes are not much more expensive than other restaurants(maybe 5 euros max). We started off with a plate of prosciutto. Solidly good but not out of this world. We had the fettuccini bolognese and the lasagna bolognese. The lasagna was better. The dishes were tasty but again not life altering or particularly memorable. We also had the lamb which was savory and packed with flavor. We ended the meal with millefeuille which lacked in flavor. If this place was in New York it would be delicious but in Rome it’s pretty standard. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

Our family of 4 was very excited to dine at the restaurant that was highly recommend by our friend, restaurant owner of Rosinella at Lincoln Rd., one of the most authentic family owned Italian restaurants in Miami Beach where we live. We walked from Exedra hotel where we were staying and got to the restaurant at abot 8:30pm where we were told that the first avaiable table would be at 10:30pm even though more then half of the tables were avaiable. I asked to see inside when young guy in a suit followed me in and said: «Why don’t you go next door? It’s probably better for you.» I asked for a manager when he told me that he was the owner and that I was not welcomed at his house. I explained how wholeheartedly his place was recomended to us by a friend from Miami Beach and his comment in front of our 7&11 old kids was: «This is a city, not a beach and you are not welcome here.» After the most wonderful day we had in Rome, this certainly affected us. It is hard to believe that the owner of such an established place with such great reputation would act so immature & lack any respect whatsover for the potential customer. If anyone had exprienced anything similar, please let me know. Huge, huge disappointment.

Food was very good… It’s definitely a place to eat, to be seen and enjoy an old school ambience. Staff was amazing. So kind to our son, we had a great time.

Great food, great location on Piazza del Popolo. Eating on the terrace is amazing and the artwork inside is special. First time to Rome and I would visit Bolognese again. Had the prosciutto that melted in your mouth. Fabuloso wine selection to compliment the authentic food.

Truly the best food in Rome. Went there for dinner with my wife and we loved it. Great food and great services.

Don’t waste your time! The service was horrible, and the food unimpressive. There are a lot of servers – all men – running around in white jackets, but we had to beg for them to do anything for us. Anywhere else we went, if I began to pour our own wine or water, someone descended upon us and took over – not here! After the first pour, we were left entirely alone. I think that they’re too busy walking around trying to look fabulous and looking for fabulous people to wait on to care about anyone else. The food wasn’t anything special either. The menu items have strange names, but they mostly turn out to be the usual Italian fare. I had a Milanese, which was pretty good, but I could have easily gotten better at any sidewalk café. My dining companions both got Shrimp Scampi with huge prawns but very little shrimp, and they had to work to get that out. The clientele was mostly American, but that may be because we ate before 9:00pm. I heard a lot of people complaining about how unimpressed they were with this«fabulous» restaurant for«fabulous» people. There’s another sidewalk restaurant right next to it, closer to the Piazza, that looked less fabulous. I’d try it before going here again.

This restaurant has a reputation for hosting many celebrities, which is, I think, entirely due to its amazing location. Besides that point, I have to say we were positively surprised by this restaurant. The prices are not as high as one claims, despite being higher than most roman restaurants. There seems to be an attraction in front of the restaurant, with an apparently well-off man, dressed extravagantly, who pretends to be making million-dollar deals on the phone, while the waiters do their best to keep him outside the premices: o) Now, more seriously: the food was very good, with the salt crust fish, or the Milanese a must. The wine list is also absolutely exquisite. However, the caprese let us down a bit, being not as tender as one may expect… The very friendly and comical service made that night one to be remembered, and one more reason to come back here: o)

Historique!
