This review is for the Gardens at Villa Cimbrone which are stunning and a lovely way to spend a day outside enjoying the beautiful views. I did this as a day trip from Positano and the views along the way are almost as stunning as the gardens. Know before you go that there are a ton of stairs and climbing so this is not for anyone who has difficulty walking. But if you can do the walking and stair climbing, it is definitely worth it. You are dropped or can park in the town area where the plaza hosts plenty of places to eat, drink, shop or just sit and enjoy the people watching. Follow the signs and walk a ways and you will find yourself at the Garden of Villa Cimbrone. Used for weddings, and other special events, the grounds are simply gorgeous no matter what time of the year you go. They are a great example of English gardens in the mediterranean! And if you follow the map you will eventually end of at the«Terrace of Infinity» which is spectacular with it’s views of the sea. The map that they give you will walk you thorough 12 different points in the garden. There is an entrance fee to get in but it is nominal. And if you need a restroom-they are located at the entrance so you may want to pop in there before heading out. A beautiful way to enjoy the Amalfi Coast!

Location and grounds are beautiful. The gardens especially are wonderful v quiet despite the tourists and the views are unparalleled. It does have a lot of stairs so be prepared for a workout. Service is mediocre as it ranges. The breakfast service is very attentive and the front desk as well, always helpful as they arranged for breakfast to be a little earlier when we had to leave for Capri. The breakfast buffet includes eggs, bacon, sausage fruit dry cereals and pastries. The coffee and teas are superb. The terrace is also great for reading and relaxing. It was a bit cold to use the pool but it looked heavenly. We ate at the restaurant where the food was ok. The service was atrocious at best as we were actually insulted by the maître d’. We had traveled all day to reach the hotel and during the selection we wanted to keep it light so chose not to have the tasting menu. Also I am in my second trimester so not all food is appetizing. My boyfriend mentioned that vegetables would be great such as a salad and he was told by the maître d’ that a Michelin star restaurant does not serve salad. His attitude was patronizing and almost disdainful as if we were not good enough to eat at the restaurant because we were not drinking wine and had not chosen the tasting menu. In addition, our AC did not work in our room(#31) so be sure to ask about this as the evenings can be quite stifling and there are Mosquitos(which if you have O positive blood and are pregnant means you are the buffet) opening the balcony is not an option.
