Cathedral of St. Ranieri

Amazing looking cathedral. The architect and details of this building is breath taking. I have never seen the grass so green around this church. There are even signs where it says Not to walk on the grass! There were no waiting lines when we got here.

This church reminds me of Santa Croce in Florence — it’s equally beautiful. Again, I must use the word ‘ornate’ to describe the architecture. I don’t know what I was expecting when I walked into the church, but it exceeded my expectations. This is truly a beautiful church that’s worth a visit. Just remember that you need to buy a ticket to access the church — they offer combined tickets that include access to the tower (i.e. to climb it) or you can get a ticket that grants you access to the baptistery and the church for a lower rate. Personally, I had climbed so many stairs that week that I had no interest in climbing the tower — I mean, the whole point of visiting Pisa is to see the tower, which you can’t do if you’re standing on top of it!

As soon as you get to Pisa tower; Standing in a large green grass, this beautiful building is just beside the tower. Its a masterpiece of medieval architecture from the outside to inside.
The entrance is free and you can do no flash photography. Make sure you go in as this was one of the beautiful churches I visited in Italy.

Indeed, this place was impressive! The buildings were huge! I didn’t mind the massive tourists since lines weren’t as long. Il torre de Pisa was actually interesting to see in person! Architecture was excellent… Very fine details that seem to be well preserved. My brother and his family who were living here at the time also bought us some awesome gelato ice cream in the food area. Surprised that he has learned some basic Italiano! He taught me to say «non copito» lol. Anyway, these buildings were worth visiting and taking photos! I also bought my jimbae drum here from a vendor, presumably African, who was selling some authentic hand made drums!
By the way, I was surprised to see one or two prostitutes on the road to the site. Surprised… Because that area didn’t appear to be such place I’d expect such transaction.

Impressive! More so than the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel!
Included with your 18 euro ticket to hike up the Tower of Pisa, so go get your money’s worth.
