We ate here twice. This is one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, the most famous and supposedly where the Margherita pizza was invented. The walls are covered in photos and a digital screen with more photos of all the famous who have eaten here. You arrive and put your name on the list and wait outside, with everyone else, for anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes depending. It is always worth it! We shared a reasonably-sized and fresh Caprese salad which was very good. I had the sausage and broccoli pizza my first time and one of the Royalty pizzas the second time. They were both excellent. The only better pizza I had tasted was at Umberto’s also in Naples. Highly recommended and a must-eat experience in Naples.

I came here during my 2008 study abroad program with some of the other exchange students in the college of business. We toured the Amalfi Coast, exploring Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri. We had heard this was the birthplace of margharita pizza and highly recommended from other travelers in our hostel, so decided to stop in for a taste. The pizza was delicious for something so simple. The staff was very friendly and ensured a positive dining experience for our group. Can’t wait to return for another go-around Euro-trip adventure — Best, Charlie

So good. Recommended by the concierge. I walked down this tiny alley to find Brandi as this cute lil restaurant that served the queen her first margherita pizza. I had to try it for myself and see. The dough is soft and chewy. The cheese is perfectly melted and the sauce was full of spice and flavors. If i could go back. It would be for this pizza. Enjoy!

THEBESTPIZZA I HAVEEVERHADINMYLIFE! I have to say this place is by far the best pizza ever. I got the margerita pizza and spaghetti and it was so amazing. This place is a must have for anyone passing through! Had the chocolate cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing. If you have time to go, you must! Staff is amazingly friendly and we got seated right away! Our waiter was always around to get something for us or help us out.

Pizzeria Brandi is without a doubt the most well known pizzeria for tourists in the heart of Naples, Italy. Certainly, if one is taking a vacation, then this place is a must see as the pizza here is completely different than almost anything you will see in the US or Canada. Having said that, I’m a bit conflicted in how to rate the restaurant as I’ve been to Naples on many different occasions over the last two years. The pizza is certainly delicious and I quite enjoy it. However, having said that, I find the prices(I believe its 12 € for the margherita) to be a bit high whereas I have found the same quality pizza both on the lungomare and more in the nitty gritty part of the city for substantially less(7 € margherita is more normal). Therefore, while I don’t find anything wrong with the pizza itself, I can only give it 3 stars. As a sidenote to all tourists, I do recommend going to this place and staying close to the Piazza Plebescito unless you A) speak Italian or B) have a guide with you.

i came in december 2012. like every restaurant i went to i tried as much as i could here. i had the prosciutto e fungi pizza. it was great. the one thing i noticed not only here but every where else i went to was how good the mozzarella was. it was very good here. i also had the margherita pizza, calzone and prosciutto e melone. everything was good the ingredients were high quality and fresh. it was very good BUT did not blow me away. i also dont know what the waiter heard but he kept bringing me beers. lol. which isn’t a bad thing. if you are in the area go. if not i would not change my plans too much to go here.

I have eaten /tasted probably over a dozen pizzas in Naples now, and I would say that this one rates. However, it is not my favorite. We visited in August and sat at a lovely little table outside(family of four). Service was awesome, the pizza came quickly and the staff were very friendly. I felt like I was truly welcomed at this institution for us devotees to La Vera Pizza Napolitana. It’s definitely worth a visit, but you should also explore the pizzas that Naples has to offer and determine your favorite.

Pizzaria Brandi! The so-called oldest pizzaria in the world! I lived right across the street(alley, really) from this place for five months in 1994, so I ate there a lot. While the pizza is good(and I did develop a taste for Italian-style pizza), I thought it wasn’t as good as the pasta dishes. My local friends agreed.

I don’t even know where to start. But here it goes. I spent a single afternoon in Naples back in 2010. Docked off of downtown, I wandered around Naples with my best friend. So what do you do in Naples with only a few hours to kill? You eat pizza! We stumbled upon Brandi and were surprised to read that they had created the famous margarita pizza. With both ordered the same thing– margarita pizza of course. Oh my God! No pizza, nothing I have ever had here in the states or in Italy, has come close to the extreme delight I experienced at Brandi. It was, hands down, no questions asked, the best pizza I have ever had. Perfectly charred crust, robust tomatoes that make you realize that the San Marzano we get out here are just a gimmick. Fresh mozzarella di bufala that holds little resemblance to what passes for it out here. This place, Pizzeria Brandi, almost ruined pizza for me just because nothing I have ever had holds a candle.

They know how to make pizza at Brandi. May be is more expensive as compared with other pizzerias in Napoli, but the crust is so good and there is attention to details, small flakes of fish in Sofia Loren pizza, tiny pieces of ham in the Calzone. Nice choice of fish salads compliments the pizza experience. Ordering octopus salad was fun experience with some confusion what is octopus and can it come along with the pizza.

Marg pizza was very good, wife really enjoyed her tomato pasta dish. The crust on the pizza was tasty and chewy but the sauce could of had more flavor. The service was good and the atmosphere was great with a nice wood burning pizza oven and outdoor seating(we sat on the balcony and really enjoyed taking in the neighborhood from above). This was the only pizza we got to try in Naples but I have had better in Italy and I would think there is better in Naples but still a great meal. Close walk from the cruise ship dock and still better pizza than you will ever find in the US.

Pizzeria Brandi, First let me start with the obvious(I thought I could buck the trend but I was wrong — hahaha) I highly recommend not trying to drive into this location. It is located just outside downtown-beach front Naples which is hard to drive around, if you choose to drive here there are a few small parking garages that are extremely friendly and eager to help out. I heard great reviews on Unilocal and a few other traveler websites/blogs so I figured this would be a good location. The décor of the place is romantic and intimate with options to sit outside or inside, its located on a side street which affords some peace outside of the bustling streets around it. The staff tends to speak multiple languages which is great and overall were friendly but not totally attentive. My wife had a cheese and mushroom pizza while I had the Toto — fried calzone with ricotta cheese and some ham. The«Toto» had been mentioned several times as being something you have to try while in Naples. Both the pizza and the Toto were good, not great, but good. The Toto started with a slightly bland taste but once you are able to get more cheese into your mouth the taste becomes a little bit more vivid. My wife’s pizza was also good but not really different than any other pizza we have had in Italy. So what I would recommend is if your in the area or you hotel is somewhat close I would recommend this location, if you have to make somewhat of an effort I would find something closer.

The food was okay — just standard Italian food. I can’t say I was amazing by everything I ate but the staff was very friendly. We waited over an hour for our main dish, which was really just pizza…

Excellent pizza! They claim to have invented the pizza. I had the Margherita pizza. Their pizza is very fresh. I would recommend this place to my friends!

Our friend who was stationed in Italy at the time took us to this restaurant because he heard it claimed to have invented the pizza! The pizza was amazing, we ordered three kinds and they were all equally delicious. The service was great and we even got free lemon wine after dinner.

This pizzeria lays claim to inventing the pizza Margherita for Queen Margherita in 1889. My husband and I sat outside on the wooden deck being serenaded by a live singer and guitarist. They even played«That’s Amore!» as we were eating our pizzas. Just imagine biting into an authentic Neopolitan pizza to the lyrics… …When the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie That’s amore When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine That’s amore Bells’ll ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling And you’ll sing«Vita bella» Hearts’ll play tippi-tippi-tay, tippi-tippi-tay Like a gay tarantella When the stars make you drool joost-a like pasta fazool That’s amore When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet, you’re in love When you walk in a dream but you know you’re not dreamin’, signore ’scusa me, but you see, back in old Napoli, that’s amore… MELTED! Loved every minute of that dinner. We ordered, of course, the Margherita with tomato, fiordilatte, and basil for € 7.50 and the Quattrocento Stagioni(each quarter slice of this pizza had a single different topping-tomato, fiordialatte cheese, proscutto, and baby clams) for € 10. The Quattrocento was a but to rich and the sauce on the Margherita not too impressive but loved the flavor from the grilled basil. Overall definitely come here for the atmosphere but not necessarily to the best Neopolitan pizzas.

Many complain on Trip Adviser about the service at Brandi, but I guess I got lucky because the service was good and the pizza was excellent — in Italy, there are often bad servers, many are foreigners and should not be working in the public sector, but they do. Unless they are completely ignoring me I care a less about service — I go for the PIZZA!!!
