Right on the corner. I was starving while exploring and thought this place was nice & busy to get a snack & just get some rest from walking so much. Turns out whatever I got was def the wrong thing. Not even remotely close to a panzerotti. I regret not getting a pastry here or just looking at reviews closely. It was doughy & disgusting. Just so dry, sorry excuse for food.

I can only speak to the gelato, but I enjoyed my piccolo cono today! They have a sign that indicates they make their own gelato. I tried two selections: the coffee, which had great flavor and texture, however I didn’t enjoy the amount of whole coffee beans there were, and also the Nutella«silk», which had a texture that was truly like the inside of a French silk pie. It was nice to have the actual gelato on the bottom of the cone, since the Nutella silk had a thick, mousse-like texture which got stuck in my throat a bit. If I pass by again during the remainder of my stay in Naples, I’ll definitely stop in again to try an espresso or one of the pastries!

Going to Gambrinus just for that old world charm is worth it. Filled with locals, no one is in a hurry. One day I sat in this café for about 2 hours and the 2 gentlemen next to my table sat and smoked the entire time and hadn’t ordered anything yet and no one bothered them. They might have been regulars but that’s something I haven’t seen anywhere else. No one rushes you and any drink no matter what the value will get you olives and atleast 3 different kinds of nuts and maybe some cakes or crust less sandwiches. Who does that anymore? Their pastries are really tasty as well. They might be a little pricier than other cafes but nothing that will break the bank. Come here and relax with a drink, read a book, talk to friends your loved one, it simply transports you to another time. The service is great. Get a seat outside of you want to people watch, the décor inside is really good. Pick any seat it’s all great !

We spent most of our evenings here for our pre-dinner, and sometimes post-dinner, drinks of Prosecco. Beautiful outdoor café seating and amazing what one gets with an 8 € glass of quite good Prosecco: olives, crisps, peanuts, small crustless sandwiches and sometimes small pizzas. Excellent coffee as well…

Didn’t get what the big deal was. Trust me, I am a sucker for culinary institutions. Every other one I ate at in Naples was a culinary wonderland. Gambrinus just didn’t do it for me. The espresso was far from the best I had in Italy. The service was lackluster. I was super excited to try the baba, but it was disgusting. Just a dull pastry soaked in rum. And trust me, the phrase ‘soaked in rum’ has very positive connotations for me normally, but at 730am it was gross and unnecessary. It is cool to say that I ate and drank at such a famous restaurant, but I would rather remember I ate at Sorbillo and Starita instead.

Extremely atmospheric old coffee house with indoor and outdoor tables. Inside there is a full pasticerria, bar, and tea room as well. The coffee is delicious(and strong!) Americano tastes like a strong espresso, and caffe(aka espresso) tastes like turbo-boosted espresso. Somehow three teeny sips in a teeny cup is enough to power a tired tourist through an entire day. We followed Rick Steves’ advice and had the sfogliatelle which was very good(ours had an orange-water fragrance/flavor that was very good.)

Hemingway ate here. Or so I’m told. I tried looking for tell tale evidence of this, but alas, there was no laconic graffiti about revolution and existential crises threatening to identify the one for whom the bell tolls in the bathroom, nor was there a brass plate memorializing his presence. So, my judgement on the historical machismo credibility of this place will be reserved. However, the drinks we had were Hemingworthy, so were the toasty little sandwiches. The prices were certainly not for starving artists types, but, reasonable for those of us with steady jobs. Come here if you’re in Napoli for the day. It’s a nice place to people watch and develop new characters for the next great(insert country here) novel.

Fancy place near Piazza del Plebiscito, it is one of those places you must visit if you pass by Naples, its long history guarantees quality and even if a bit pricy compared to others, it deserves it’s fame. Try a coffee or a a sfogliatella roccia, you will be happy.

I asked the server what he recomended and he simply walked away and never came back. He made a point of avoiding us after. The food was pricey for the area and couple with offensive service there was no point in staying, so we left. I would strongly advise avoiding this place if looking for a pleasant atmosphere.

Starbucks eat your heart out! This is a beautiful place. Great café but not the best espresso in Naples. It’s the ambiance that makes this place. A must see when you come to Napoli.

The sit down service is a serious problem as I’ve seen more than a few international tourists not receive what they ordered; and the servers almost seem to make a game of it to see if they notice. That sort of behavior is enough to put this café on your avoid list. On the plus side, the gelato quality is good and the pastries are serviceable; though sometimes sparse in selection for a café of this size.

So good. The coffee, gelato, drinks, décor… I wouldn’t eat a meal here, but for a bar, it’s awesome.

Gorgeous old café. Expensive, yes, but the history, location, and ambience are what you are paying for in addition to the food and drinks. The waiters are attentive. We paid € 7 each for large(0.4L) beers, but got to sit at a great table and enjoy the views. They also had a television set up in the outside café area for the World Cup, where we got to see Greece almost pull out a victory against Costa Rica. It’s expensive, and not the best or cheapest place to just get a simple drink, but again, you are paying for the location and history as well. Worth a visit.

Way over priced! Do not come here. 6.50 euro for a small frappé! McCafe is much better and they don’t charge their customers to use the restroom. The fat lady sitting outside the toilettes made me pay 50 cents! What a joke.

Another Naples institution. Gambrinus is a very old and elegant tea-room, coffee house, also offering very good(and expensive) pastry and typical desserts. In its long history it was visited by kings, queens, heads of state, opera stars and so on. If you ask me, the quality at Gambrinus is good, but not better than many other places around. In fact a baba from a street vendor in via dei Tribunali is definitely a better option. And it will cost you 5 times less money. Still, worth a visit.

One of my first nights in Naples, the bus I took dropped me right in front of the famous café Gambrinus, a beautiful place that is about 150 years old. Oscar Wilde used to eat there! They’re especially known for their desserts, so I tried some gelato — chocolate and lavender(like the flower!). The well-known café did not let me down — the gelato was great.

If you only have an hour to spend in bella Napoli, then this is the place you have to seek out for a coffee, cappuccino and perhaps a pastry(or more). If the weather is great, which is usually is, do sit outside but first go inside and have a look around. the interior is amazing.

Facing the Piazza Plebiscito, the Gran Caffe Gambrinus, once boasted of being the hang out joint of literary genius Oscar Wilde. Nowadays, it’s the perfect stop to rest your weary feet from Naples dirty streets. Ample people watching to be had, but at a price. Prices for drinks and food double if you decide to sit at a table rather than stand at the bar. My husband and I each enjoyed a bottle Nastro Azzuro(€ 5) as we munched on their complimentary bar nibbles(delicious and fresh green olives and a variety of rice/potato croquettes). They’ve got a huge gelato selection and also serve typical Neopolitan treats such as sfogliatella(flaky sweet pastry stuffed with ricotta) and baba(rum-soaked cake in the shape of a mushroom).

Café ist gut aber überteuert… Extra für die dummen Touristen… Kleiner Tipp, neben an gibt es ein kleines Café wo sogar die Stars zum Café trinken gehen… Dort gibt es den besten Espresso zu normalen Preisen
