RUDE AND SEXIST ITALIAN MACHISMO AT ITS FINEST!
At the recommendation of our hotel, my family and I came here for dinner. While we were warmly greeted by the host (or owner? An older gentleman with glasses) who made recommendations and took our large party of seven’s order, that is where the hospitality stops. There were several instances where wait staffed was inattentive by giving chipped wine glasses to customers which is not only a restaurant liability but health hazard. Out of the seven of us who did not speak italian, I tried using my broken italian while pointing or making gestures with the waiter’s broken English. Towards the end of the meal, I asked for a box while pointing to leftover dish and the waiter affirmed walked away only to come back asking questions about steak on the menu… mind you it’s the end of the meal, there are no menus on the table where I would have said this word and I pointed to the leftover dish trying to ask for a box only to be told he said I had ordered food (I didn’t). Instead of a simple misunderstanding or his error of a server to assume, I was berated by an arrogant and rude waitstaff. I apologized if I had mispronounce what I meant saying I am trying to respect the culture and use the language and he cursed at me and stormed off.
Are you kidding me?! I have never had such a poor experience with a waiter in a restaurant. Stunned by his unprofessionalism, my family and I decided not to have dessert there and asked for the bill instead. We left tipping less than we anticipated. To make matters worse and to add insult to injury, the waiter came back with shots of limoncello and had the nerve to ask me if I «wanted to repeat?» UH excuse me, Wtf?! Repeat what? You can keep your limoncello peace offering (I didn’t drink it) and keep your incredibly rude remarks and acitons. You are an embarrassment and Horrible representation of your restaurant and establishment. The waiter is wrong to assume and feel the need to berate a woman in front of her family while on vacation. No matter how decent the food was (except of the extremely al dente aka hard rigatoni bolognese), I lost my appetite. Waitstaff and presentation is reflection of the restaurant and Filume waitstaff are incredibly incompetent, rude, and instead display the epitome of sexist italian male machoism culture. You could not pay me to come back, I would not return or recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the grit of Naples. Non grazie!
