We were informed about this place by the lady who owns the holiday home we stayed at, in Monteguidi. There are two winemakers in and around this village and, this is one of them. We arrived unannounced and, it was on one of the busiest days of the year, as it was peak harvest time. Varno the winemaker /chef /accountant /sales guy /farmer stopped what he was doing to, show us around and, let us taste his products. This is a tiny family business with a Father, Uncle and Son trio running the place and doing everything. They have three small apartments on location that they rent out for farm stay and, they have a tiny little restaurant that serves food made to order, provided, you reserve ahead of time. The restaurant is open by reservation only and, you can reserve for as little as two people. They make three red wines the Riserva, Erta and bulk wine for the locals. They also make couple of grappas and a drink called myrto, made from myrtle berries. We tasted all of them and they were excellent. I specially loved the Myrto. Prices on the higher side however the quality was excellent. They also make olive oil, some jams and tomato sauce with products from their land. I love such small businesses and ended up buying a lot to bring back ;-)) as we had not booked for dinner, we were unable to check out the cooking. Their products are only available at the location. Varno is truly passionate about his place and has grown up here and built it up over the last ten years. He is very down to earth and funny and great to talk to. His English is also pretty good. I wish I lived close to this place :-(
