Bar Luce

This café really feels like a Wes Anderson movie, if you’re a fan of his films. This café in Milan’s Prada art museum is a welcome stop after you’ve taken in the modern art exhibits nearby.
There is a walk up counter to order, or table service if you opt to pay a service charge. Finding a spot is tough with crowds of tourists all wanting to check out the 50’s style décor, and admire the pinball machines and jukeboxes; no one seemed interested in playing either though.
After managing to find my way to a table, I checked out the menu which is filled with a lot of sandwiches, as well as cocktails, coffees, and desserts. I had the St. Tropez, which is a flatbread filled to the brim with orange, foie gras, and a citrusy sauce. It’s easily the best use of foie gras I have ever tasted, and they do not kid around with the portions: I was tasting foie gras bite after bite.
I had an espresso with strawberry and pistachio gelato for dessert, which were on point as well. I would come again just for Bar Luce alone, and view the art as a side stop. If only Milan were closer to home.

Como buena fanatica del cine y de mi amado Wes Anderson, venir a este café era una de las razones más importantes para volver a visitar Milan. Venía obsesionada desde hacía tiempo y espere ese día con una ansiedad de adolescente previa a su fiesta de 15.
Ubicado dentro de la Fondazione Prada, un poquito en las afueras del centro de Milan, encontramos el café más lindo del universo, el Bar Luce. Que busca recrear el ambiente de los antiguos cafés milaneses y lo consigue bien.
Al entrar al café uno entra al mundo privado de una mente brillante, todo rememora a Milan y a Wes Anderson, es como caminar en un mundo idílico de colores pasteles y gente bien vestida. Aún demasiado hipster, aún demasiado trendy, faltaba un señor de traje beige de terciopelo imitando al maestro y cartón lleno.
Más aliá de esto, los precios esta bien, acordes a cualquier café paquete caro de la Milan, esperaba de hecho que fueran muy caros pero no, es accesible. Los mozos son super amables y todo funciona super bien. Volveré cada vez que visite la bella Milan.

Whether you want a beer or cocktail, they have Italian and German beers on tap, and many familiar cocktails like Sazerac, John Collins, Side Car, or if you want something Italian get the Negroni. Have a snack with their 50+ sandwich varieties (I recommend the classic ham selections). After a drink/​bite, head over to play some music or play the Zissou pinball machine! If you have time go next door to check out the Prada Museum. All in all, a good find in Milan!
