Hubby and I spent three days here. Wow! What a way to unplug from the rat race. The B & B is located a few kilometers south of Luogosanto, overlooking green valleys with rocky peaks in the distance. The restored stone home, in farm country, is charming and rustic, surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens, olive and fruit trees. You wake each morning to chickens and the bells from the cows next door. Accommodations are simple and comfortable. Host couple Leo and Marzia do their best to run a sustainable operation(local food, wood heat, solar hot water.) They speak excellent English, and they have plenty of suggestions for day trips and restaurants to try. Luogosanto is a long walk or a short drive, and beaches on the Mediterranean are only 20 – 30 minutes away – but you must have a car to get here. Breakfasts were simple but tasty: coffee or tea, muesli with homemade yogurt, and bread with homemade fig or orange preserves. Our hosts apologized because there wasn’t a lot of fruit in season(we were there in May.) We spent one day at the beach at Rene Majore sunning and swimming and another day hiking Capo de Testa followed by pizza in Santa Teresa. We took two short day jaunts on our third day, visiting nearby ancient olive trees and a tiny country church atop a rocky hill. We spent the rest of the time hanging around the property reading and soaking up the leisurely atmosphere. This is one place I really want to come back to.
