Great place with good food and polite multi-lingual servers. 4 stars just because the rice was a bit plain(saltless)

This place was pretty good, and definitely a nice change of pace. They were kind about offering(free) tap water and were also relatively attentive to our table. There is a 2 euro/person charge for sitting down. On the food, it was spiced well, presented well, and generally very good. My only complaint is that my lamb was quite fatty and one of the chunks of «meat» was completely fat. Many of the pieces were about 50% fat.(I ordered the Himilaya Thali) I’m American and have many very good Indian places near home. This did not compete with those places at home, but it was still very good.

Our waiter was very friendly and sympathetic, the food was excellent and a nice change from the usual pasta and pizza. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options as well.

I’m keeping in mind that this is a Venetian restaurant, which is why I’m being generous with my three stars. If you live in Chennai or Mumbai or Santa Clara, CA, and you’re used to eating food cooked by Indian people for Indian people, then the chow here might vaguely remind you of Indian food. It’s as if it was prepared by people who’ve heard about Indian food, but never actually eaten it. Or maybe they’re adjusting it for local tastes. The food is not bad, but it’s not great. The lamb curry was the best thing we had — fragrant, but not spicy enough. The butter chicken was OK. The vegetable curry was more like minestrone soup. The dal was bland. Samosas came with some kind of beans in them, which is a little odd, and they lacked the proper spices. Were I to go back, I think I would concentrate on the meat and paneer dishes. I’m guessing I’d have better luck there. On the plus side, the ambience is fine, the service is great, and it is a nice break from the Italian culinary tradition. Well, mostly — quite a few of the dishes were slightly Italian-fusion, in an unintended way. By all means eat here, just set your expectations correctly.

Chai and malai kofta! Delicious! Paneer Makhani! Scrumptious! A welcome break from the ubiquitous pizza and pasta all around. Beautiful food! Relaxing atmosphere, authentic and inventive. Well worth the boat ride.

Possibly the only ethnic dining option in Lido town, and the cliché name aside, Buddha’s curry line up does play up to London standards. The curry is verifiably freshly prepared; no generic traffic light goop here. The fish curry, which turned out to be sardine based(albeit a sizable fillet), was tasty in that it was fatty; also surprised to find the cauliflower soup to have been such a delightfully hearty opener. Chicken marsala erred wasn’t anything to write home about; should’ve gone with the tandoori instead. Prices are reasonable with entrees starting at € 10. Service friendly and prompt.
