Genova Piazza Principe

Very difficult to walk with luggages! I read from Wikipedia they has 5 elevators and renovation but it was all a big lie because I never found another lift I tried to ask where is the lift but nobody didn’t know they showed only one lift but it took me to middle floor there because the lift I took from the station gone only to middle floor to the corridor and then couldn’t find another lift. I was searching the lift everyhwere couldn’t find it and nobody didn’t know. It’s very difficult there. There is nothing cheap at the station only expensive café all starting from 3 € and outside is very bad café I bought sandwich from the café outside of the station but very close to the station and got sick. I felt headache then stomach sick and very dizzy! never had this kind of experience before. I never buy nothing from there again. Now I know not to buy nothing. The station and outside smelled like some drug and I don’t even know nothing about the drugs but the smell was so strong. A lot of drug users and weird people are hanging at the station and near By and they make a lot of noise that you will hear even if you stay at 8 floor of the hotel buildings. Police is there only at the day time and sometime. The station outside is disgusting and the city seemed like a big slum with a lot of foreigners and only few nice italians and then drug users. This is like a forgotten city and left behind without control. Many people in Genoa will treat all foreigners as disgusting criminals or whores and their attitude is not right because good tourists bring money to them but many of them has no respect. If some foreigner is bad it doesn’t mean that all are.
Stazione e vicino di stazione tutto schifoso e piena di problemi. Piena di droghe ecc.

This is a pretty barren station for being the main station in a city centre! There is next to nothing here! No shops and one snack bar. Deceptively few people around either. I guess it serves it’s transport purpose and its not a bad looking building from the outside at least!

On our last full day in Italy, we took the Train from Monterosso al Mare to the Genova Piazza Principe Station. It was a pleasant ride at time through this section of the Italian Riviera, only to have the journey end at this «tattered» and somewhat dreary Station. There’s plenty of evidence of unfinished refurbishment, but in the meantime it was a bit of an obstacle course to find our way out.
There were a few pleasant surprises. One was escalator in the main Station, which if you add things like elevators and ramps seems to be far and few between in Italy. The other was that cabs were readily available once we figured out where to go.

One of the most run down train stations I’ve been to in Europe so far.
Not many choices to eat or hang out at while waiting for your train.
