B“H for Ruth’s. It’s a haven for kosher travelers in Florence. The restaurant refers to itself as vegetarian – which it is, with vegan options. But in reality it’s what kosher eaters in the US call a dairy(milchig) restaurant. That’s to say you won’t find items like veggie burgers on the menu. Rather, offerings include pasta, fish, soup — all freshly prepared Italian cuisine. There are also falafel and hummus, but I for one prefer to eat Italian food while traveling in Italy. Recommended: artichoke«Jewish style» is a must. Simple preparation but delicious. Pasta can be made with any of several sauce options, your choice. Fish is good; fish couscous especially yum. Pizza is tasty. Small wine list. Order the Terra di Seta chianti(after all, you are in Tuscany); forget the rest. The host, Simcha, is a blast and fountain of local info.

Really good restaurant with a cool vibe right next to Florence’s famous synagogue. Casual place with board games available to use and a friendly rabbi to chat with. If you happen to like falafal, you certainly should try it here, I really liked it and their desserts, especially their apple cake.
