I’d give this a 4.5 star rating if at all possible. This is a fabulous hotel in a great little part of Florence. Very close to the train station, lots of little restaurants on the street. Quiet, decent rooms, comfy bed(room 6 anyway) good breakfast of delicious baked goods, juice and other items. Everyone there is wonderful and we couldn’t have been happier with the entire experience. About a five minute walk to the more hectic Florence I don’t care all that much for. It’s not even that hard to find. The only knock I have — is their coffee. It really was sub par and I like my coffee. My hope is they upgrade the quality if they read this. I can’t imagine a more perfect setting to stay in Florence. Room 6 is ideal

I picked Hotel Mario’s after reading reviews on multiple websites, including Unilocal. It consistently received great reviews. Hotel Mario’s is conveniently located about a three minute walk from the train station and about five minutes from El Duomo. Unlike most European cities, Florence is not at all shady around the train station, so don’t be scared that by its proximity to the train station(which is seedy inside). I will say Mario’s isn’t the BEST location, however, as it’s about a 10 – 15 minute walk to the river, and a lot of the better restaurants are located on the other side of the river. Nonetheless, Florence is a small, walkable town so nothing is that far away. The hotel lobby is one level off the street. If you need help with your luggage, don’t hesitate to ask — service is very friendly! Our room was really big by European standards, and cutely decorated. Wi-fi was fast, reliable and cheap. The people at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast, included with the room, is a typical European breakfast, but with great coffee, even cappuccino. It’s not a luxurious hotel by any means, but it’s spacious, clean, quiet and has great service. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow! I love you Peter Lugers and Wolfgang in NYC and Kokkari in SF but I’m ready to cheat on you in a heart beat to get my fix at Mario’s! The Florentine steak is off the hizzle! The meat is seasoned to perfection and there is a crisp sear on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside. Oh, and the price of the steak is half the cost(taking into consideration the exchange rate) of other very nice steak establishments in the US. It’s enough for me to consider moving to Firenze.

Best kept secret. A lot of academics on sabbatical or vacation stay here; their rates are very reasonable and their rooms are all unique. They have a very small capacity and it is family run. I once stayed here when my apartment lease was up and my plane ticket wasn’t for a few more days – they had a vacancy, so they upgraded me from their single bed room to a king. I can’t tell you how amazing this was after sleeping on effectively a cot for the four months before it. They’re kind people and it’s run top notch. Proximity to the train station is awfully convenient too.

I’m tempted not to review this because it’s such a secret Great rates and amazing rooms and centrally located You’d be surprised how cheap it is and one of the only hotels with a couple of kingsize beds in all of florence that isn’t a 5 star formal hotel
