Tried this spot with a few friends, attracted by the many great reviews. The restaurant is quite big and well furnished, there’s a big sharing table that I like to see in places, it makes you feel home. And home feels like when the owner makes Florentine’s jokes! A small wine carte, but a wider food one, with symbols for each need: vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. I tried their onion soup(unfortunately almost too salty to be eaten), pici cheese and artichokes(here a few more artichokes wouldn’t have bothered me) and a starter that was excellent. The end was a feast of joy with this big table of desserts that you can gorge yourself with for a 7 euros deal! Prices aren’t quite cheap though, we spent above 30 euros each. I think I need to give it another try to be sure it’s that good.

This was a fantastic meal with simple, fresh ingredients elegantly prepared by «Madame». No doubt one of the best meals I’ve had in Italy and elsewhere for that matter. The first course, spaghetti and squid was simple, but perfectly executed as one would expect with home made pasta and perfectly cooled squid – which in my experience is hard to master. The second course, pork meatballs in a tangy sauce that brought out the savory essence of the pork. It was complimented by roasted shaved carrots and fennel, a winning combination. Desert consisted of a € 5 fixed price all you can eat menu of a dozen or so different items, each of which were fresh. My dining companion appreciated ample gluten free choices, hard to come by in this part of the world. The proprietor, «Monsieur», the chef’s husband, greeted us warmly, despite the language differences and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with our selections. Dinner was capped off by a little moscato, compliments of the proprietor. Madame’s is a bit outside of the central tourist areas, but is worth the 15 minute ride on the number 6 bus from downtown.

Excellent meal. We had two starters, a first course, and two main courses plus wine. The service was excellent. The restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable. We had salmon and the selection of croutons as our starter. Our first plate was spaghetti with octopus and lemon. This was excellent. Our main courses of steak while very good were probably the least stand outs. Our wine was excellent. Overall a great Florence restaurant experience. Try it, you will not be sorry.

My husband and I had two dinners in this restaurant this week. The food is wonderful, original, and beautifully served. The restaurant is a little off the usual tourists path so it is not crowded. Spend a few extra minutes and walk there — you will be glad you did!

I came here through an event hosted by Unilocal, where I got to sample a wide arrangement of their menu. I also tried their Spritz cocktail which was pretty good. I have to say everything was really tasty specially their desserts. The staff was friendly and described in detail each dish when I had some questions regarding my allergy to certain ingredients. I would for sure return here for brunch. I highly recommend the ratatouille dish and scone like breads with sweet cheese and oranges, which was my favorite!

I was lucky enough to try the brunch at Madame Bistrot during a recent Unilocal event. The Sunday brunch will begin in September 2015, for a fixed price of € 20. The brunch will include unlimited drinks and buffet style food. The food I tried was fantastic. I was especially blown away by the American desserts offered, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, delicious cheesecake and an apple cake. There were so many options and everything was bursting with flavor. Since I don’t eat pork, I wasn’t able to try all the savory options but the spinach muffins and grilled veggies with cheese were tasty. The bistrot is run by a jovial and friendly family! Definitely need to come back to try their lunch menu.
