Leo is my FAVORITE restaurant in Florence. It has been several years since I have been there… but will be back in September this year… they did do a restoration a few years back… but i have sent five different groups of friends there since my last visit and ALL raved about the place.

This was the best italian food that I have ever had in Firenze… The pasta with bolognese was to die for and the potato gnocchi was out of this world. A woman next to our table recommended the Ribollita soup which is a vegetable, bean and bread soup. It sounded amazing but we opted for the pasta! The owner is incredibly charming and came over to socialize with us. This place is a little off the beaten path, but the places right around the Piazzas are usually touristy and expensive. LOVE, LOVE, LOVETHISPLACE! PLEASEGOWHENYOUAREINTOWN, don’t be fooled by the crowded touristy places with the host trying to sell you into going in.

Best meal I’ve had in my life. It was 6 years ago, and I still remember. Anytime someone I know is headed for Florence I tell them about it. It was the first time I had gnocchi and it was amazing. I’ll have to see if I can dig up some pictures. The waiter was friendly and we had no problem communicating. The meal was very reasonably priced and it was probably one of the nicest restaurants we visited on our 5 week trip. This is probably because it wasn’t a toursit trap! We wondered around side streets until we didn’t hear english and found a place.
