We found this place by pure chance while going to the Il Vegetariano. The waitress was graceful to explain the different options of the menu and the restaurant’s philosophy. We ordered the Toro and the Twins. They were both very good but the Twins(Gemeos) was hands down the best. The food was good, the service adequate, but I thought it was a bit overpriced(hence the 4 stars)

We had dinner there last night. I asked to start with the salads. The bread and oil kept us happy until the food arrived. I had a large, very fresh and tasty salad with artichokes. My fiancé had a nice salad with olive, tomatoes etc. He ordered a beef entrée which was slightly more rare than he likes(his error, he did not specify). They recooked it, to his pleasure without any trouble. I ordered a salmon dish with fennel which was wonderful. It was tender, fresh and enough portion for me. Tonight we each ordered a pizza Margarita which was delicious and very filling for a personal size. Children were playing in the square which was fun to watch. We will take the 2 large Tiramisu to our rented 2016 apartment as we are now quite full. The wait staff were very attentive and tried very hard with English.

This is probably the most convenient late night munchies, very authentic Italian pizza, really enjoyed the appetizers and free wine and cookies, will come back if I visit again for sure

Came here for dinner. We were looking for a late night dinner and the hotel concierge recommended this place. If you’re just passing by the street you won’t know that this place existed behind the wall. It has a very nice atmosphere. The sliced sirloin steak was cooked really good(and as ordered: medium rare). Try the tiramisu!

Horrible service to Americans. Completely ignored and even told to «you need to wait» when trying to flag down our waiter. They forgot to put our order in and we waited for 1.5 hours for our second dish and there were no apologies. Food was clearly rushed and tasteless. Do not recommend

I will say this restaurant is in a STUNNING location, you can’t get much prettier than the romantically lit inside courtyard of this former prison. I always passed by this place and wanted to eat especially since the prices seemed really decent. We ate here the other day and I thought it was mediocre. I ordered a pasta with«white ragu» that was very bland and not very appetizing. Our salad with pecorino cheese and walnuts, had blocks of the said cheese cut inside(they should have thinly sliced it and it was not aged, there was basically no flavor) and the lettuce was cheap iceburg lettuce, not even red cabbage or anything. The pizzas seemed ok but honestly you can go around the corner to Pizzaiuolo and eat phenomenal pizza. Some of the appetizers did look ok, so maybe if I was to go back I would try that. This happens to be a really nice corner of Florence(piazza sant’ambrogio area) and there are some really decent restaurants nearby so unfortunately this is somewhere I would not eat again. that being said, the white«house wine» actually was really good and the prices were very normal. I just was really disappointed by the food, this place has so much potential. i highly recommend checking out the«carceri» aperitivo bar next door which is a really nice place to get a drink.

Go for the specials; if they have anything with langostines or eggplant, it will be fabulous. Amazing setting for outdoor seating, it’s secluded and mostly frequented by locals. I only discovered this after living a block away for some months. Weekend evenings are dressier but you can feel comfortable showing up in most anything aside from beachwear. It’s magical.
