I had a bad experience at this rental office, and spent months trying to correct what seemed like a shady business practice. Reserved a A3 ended up with a Fiat 500L which according to the person at the desk was the same class of car. According to bill it was not, it was in fact a lower class car. Class D to be precise, also it was a lower cost car, however I was not credited the difference or told of the change. The desk agent instead loaded the bill with optional coverages that I declined online.
Fast forward a few months I am trying to dispute this optional charges with my credit card and Avis. Avis now says that these optional charges are mandatory from this location. Weird. No notification online yet I am able to decline these charges pre pay for one car then end up with mandatory charges that on the bill are listed optional? Confused? So am I.
The explanation given was that my credit card insurance auto insurance is not accepted by this location. At no time was this disclosed to me. Frankly I think this is a lie. Avis international said my car class was changed to accommodate these «mandatory» charges. Seems a bit fishy right? I was not told in the office that they did not accept auto insurance coverage by a credit card company nor was I told that the «optional» coverage was mandatory. I was told a Fiat 500L was the same as an Audi A3.
I wont be doing business with Avis ever again.

Renter beware! Even though the staff programmed their address into their navigation, it was still difficult to get back to return the car. Also, staff failed to explain that you are charged extra for higher use of miles ($ 100 extra) even though they know you are traveling a long distance. Lorenzo was wonderful in fixing this issue– I wanted to rate this 5 stars, but the difficulty in returning the car and $ 100 fee unfortunately resulted in the 3 star rating.

Here’s my tips for dealing with this location.
1) Always refill the gas. Even if the price of gas is cheap for them to refill it, there is an instant ~18 Euro service charge for them to do it. Plus the gas price is always somehow more than they say. Doesn’t say anything on the contract about this service charge, just the cost.
2) Never return it after hours. Not only to you risk incorrect information being recorded, but you also have to pay 20 Euro for the parking garage overnight. Of course that’s not mentioned either. And the sign in the garage makes it seem like if you are returning the car to the garage (WHICH IS WHERE YOU PICK IT UP FROM) then there shouldn’t be a charge.
3) The main Avis support has like ZERO way to tell what this specific locationt did as their computers aren’t directly linked, and getting in touch with someone that can tell you is virtually impossible. I was only able to do so because they called me and I had a callback number I could use. I had no way to tell why my bill was $ 90 higher than it should have been for a 1 day rental. Not to mention its super hard to get a person on the line.
4) Record your mileage and take pictures of it and the gas tank reading when you need the car. I would hate to see what kind of fees would be incurred if I was over mileage.
5) Take pictures of your car before and after the trip to prove there was no additional damage. Even if you get the damage insurance policy, I would still swear by this.
There really aren’t many good options for renting cars in the city. Sadly we were scrambling for time on our way out and had to settle for Avis. I tried to fill up the car with gas but all the gas stations were self service by that time at night, and I didn’t want to put in the wrong octane and cause an issue.
I should have known they would scam me on the parking garage, but the additional fees for no reason are just the cherry on top.
Tread carefully

Be careful with your credit cards with this car rental location. I was charged $ 57 for providing information to the municipality of Firenze for a parking ticket. I paid the ticket to the directly to the municipality and Avis made money off of this. They actually charged my card after six months and without my authorization!

The people are nice at the Avis Rental Car for Aeropuerto di Firenze. I have no problem. The problem I have is where they are located.
Apparently they relocated all of the car rentals for Aeropuerto di Firenze to Via Degli Spini, and the signs that guide you for return are all wrong, and point you to the wrong place. They need to fix this. I spent 45 minutes to 1 hour trying to find this dropoff place, and ultimately found them at Via Degli Spini for Aeropuerto di Firenze.
