Amalo

I tried their strawberry (fragola) flavor as well as their nutella flavored gelato and both were very good. This place has such cute décor and a very airy ambiance. It’s something I really like cause you can really immerse yourself in the atmosphere if you’re sitting down and having gelato. Anyway, I haven’t had any bad gelato in Florence yet and Amalo is another addition to the list. good + cute eats.

I just tried this place on a whim as i smelled a wonderful waffle scent wafting from the open entrance. Boy, am I glad that I did!
I chose a gelato flavor (stracciatella) and asked for it to be turned into a yummy milkshake with fresh cream on top! Best € 3.00 spent, as I gulped down the milkshake in less than 5 minutes! My toddler tried the frozen yogurt and her review was two thumbs up! It was fresh and tangy.
I found out that the smell was coming from their waffle cones that are made there on the spot. Being right smack in the center of town, you’d expect some crazy prices, but it was pretty decent at € 2 for the smallest cup or cone.
I think I have to come back and try their crepes!

This is just a couple of doors down from Vestri. Both have super cute store fronts, but the gelato is nothing special. I walked in and noticed that they were in the process of making some gelato, how cool?! I really want one of these places to allow me to see them make some gelato… I don’t need to know their secret ingredients, I just want to see the process. Just like I really want to sit in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant here to watch them make pasta and everything else.
I was a bit distracted by that, so I wasn’t really paying attention to all of the flavors. Tonight, I was in the mood from chocolate and hazelnut, but I didn’t see a Gianduja. However, I did spy a Nutella gelato! Done. There wasn’t even a second flavor added to the mix because that is what I wanted. The gelato was a very pale tan color… it was also a bit on the bland side as well. It was a bit… well it reminded me of a Frosty from Wendy’s. And while I do like the occasional Frosty, I wanted an intense Nutella gelato… maybe even with swirls of Nutella throughout. I didn’t finish the cup :(
