Gelato at Grom is a highlight of most of our trips to Italy. Yes, it’s a chain, and there’s something annoyingly non-local about chains, but hear me out. Grom makes really really yummy gelato. I love arriving in a totally new(to me) city to find a Grom there ready to meet my gelato needs — it’s much more efficient than trying every other gelateria in town hoping to stumble across an exceptional one. That doesn’t mean I ignore the other places — I love getting a recommendation from a local for the finest little mom-and-pop gelato shop in town, too. There’s room in my heart(and belly) for multiple gelato suppliers. Favorite flavors include dark chocolate(cioccolato fondente), salted carmel, and pistacchio. The fruit sorbets are delicious, too.
