This was the second day we went to Como, Italy at the shopping square, surrounded by beautiful mountainous homes in the back round and beautiful architecture in the square, especially The Duomo Como, which is the beautiful cathedral and represents great Italian history among all these shops, sidewalk café’s and small Italian restaurants with outdoor seating which makes for great people watching. When you wake up in Italy and start doing some serious walking and site seeing, it seems that around noon, you want to find a great little Italian café or restaurant that serves great local Italian wines. We were really in the mood just to sit outside, relax, drink some wines and try some new pasta dishes, cheeses and meats. We just happened to walk in to this perfect little Italian restaurant that had a large wine selection and samples of their dishes beautifully set out on their counter to look at. It almost looked like you could sample these dishes they were so well displayed. There were also cheese and fresh vegetables displayed. The inside was your typical Italian setting with nice tables set, surrounded by beautiful artwork and large wine racks with so many different beautiful Italian wines displayed. The wine racks were in two different places in the restaurant and really got you in the mood to find the perfect bottle of wine and order some great pastas and cheeses to go with it. Outside was a perfect outdoor setting overlooking 2 crosswalks, great for people watching. The tables were all set with different color table clothes. We sat down and we were greeted by our server to order our wine and looked at the menu. We sat at a table right next to the entrance to the inside. After looking at the fresh food that they sampled, we had a good idea of what we were in the mood for thankfully because the menu was quite large. The wine was served with a really fantastic variety of fresh breads. We ordered slowly and were not rushed. Started out with a fresh Caprese Salad, and the mozzarella was so soft and fresh. My wife ordered a grilled vegetable plate with potatoes. We split that as well and was something different than all the pastas we have had thus far during the week. After a couple glasses of wine, though, I had to order a fresh pasta, so I had the Pasta Pomedoro, simple, and cooked El dente and was not smothered in tomato sauce but a light coating of tomato sauce. This was a perfect lunch, great wine on a perfect sunny day with mild temperatures in a beautiful setting. What a way to spend a couple hours in the Como, Italy square.
