I love Bologna, because you get to do wine-bar hopping instead of just the ordinary bar-hopping. Here you get to sip wine all day long(nobody is going to judge you, well not me!) and you will get delicious snack as you do. No more beer and peanuts, folks! It’s the holy trinity of Italy: Wine, meat and cheese We came to this place for post-lunch wine. If there’s no such thing, we invented it. You could see that this place is a dedicated to wine and pork. Lots of pig photos everywhere. We ordered two reds along with a big plate of cured meat ala San Daniele including prosciutto and mortadella, and some parmigiano in shards. We did get a little *salat* on it, a couple of rucola /rocket leaves in the center. Sssh. that makes it healthy no? Sadly we didn’t get to try their lunch or dinner since we didn’t have much time in Bologna but I could see people lunching there left the place without a frown, so it must have been a happy lunch. This place is definitely recommended. Friendly waiter, good service, good wine and food and cozy atmosphere. We even eyed on those heavenly-looking cakes stored in their fridge, but we decided that we should stick to keep our tummy capacity for the holy trinity of Italy.

San daniele, vino, parmigiano, vino rosso, san daniele, vino, mozzarella, etc, etc… Tutto bene. Comme vous l’aurez compris: le nom c’est le programme. Le décor: terrasse sous les arcades. Ambiance sympathique et jeune à l’image de la ville. Une bonne adresse à Bologne.

It was our first night in Bologna, and we were trying to find a good authentic italian restaurant to eat at(what else would you wanna do!). We walked by this restaurant which is located on one of the smaller streets, looked at the menu and saw that most of the food they had was cheese and cured meat dishes. Not knowing that much Italian, I guess I couldve guessed that from their name of the restaurant which means«Bread, wine, and san Daniele»(san daniele being a type of ham). Anyways we decided to give it a shot and the guy at the front counter was extremely nice and friendly and accommodating to our language barrier. We decided on the tagliatelle al ragu(a must in bologna), the«Troll», and the«Classica salad». First came the tagliatelle — extremely al dente freshmade tagliatelle noodles lightly coated with their ragu. The whole dish was topped with two large thinly sliced pieces of their famous san daniele ham. This dish was my absolute favorite. It was so flavorful and even though there was not too much ragu on it, it was flavorful enough to flavor the whole dish. The Troll was an interesting dish. It was grilled vegetables(eggplant, tomatoes, onions, zucchini) with fried chunks of potato, topped with melted cheese, and then topped with their san daniele ham. This dish was pretty good if you eat it with bread otherwise it’s pretty salty. The grilled vegetables were nice but the whole dish was a little strange for me. The Classica salad had tuna, fresh buffalo mozzerella, lettuce, tomato, etc. This was mediocre. just a salad. And they give you a side of olive oil, balsamic, salt and pepper to make your own dressing. All in all this was a great experience. The pasta was amazing and the other dishes were just okay for my taste.

Tried this place on a recommendation from a local Bolognese. Really cool and different type of dining experience. Unfortunately they were all sold out of local wines, but that proved to my advantage as I tried a fantastic glass of Barone Rosso. Oh, and be sure to order the little basket of local style breads.

We visited this place on recommendation fo a friend of mine that did her exchange semeste rin Bologna. Me and my friend visited this restaurant in the summer of 2010. This was the best thing we ate in bologna. we ordered a mixed platter with antipasti, bread(tigelle), different meats(mortadella, salami, san daniele) and some Lambrusco Wine. It was delicous and for the received quality ridicoulsly cheap(less than 15 e) Dies ist eine Empfehlung von Katrin S. Wenn meine Empfehlung Dir gefallen hat, so würde ich mich über ein gegebenes«hilfreich» sowie«Kompliment» sehr freuen.
