The il Canale hotel was hard to find. It is tucked away on a street that seems more like an alley. But hey, there’s a canal! We actually got a «canal view» room, but after arriving from Venice we couldn’t help but smile a little. Bologna’s canal doesn’t compare to even the least of Venice’s. It looks like it extends a block. But I digress. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Our room had high ceilings, but the furnishings and décor were a bit dated. The bathroom was wheelchair friendly – but had some odd fixtures. There was no shower curtain or door – it was difficult to keep water from going everywhere. In addition, the toilet was a little awkward. I’m glad they these facilities available, but I think we would have preferred different accommodations. Il Canale was a reasonable value and had a nice location(once we found it) but it also didn’t feel exceptional.
