A quiet pub in a quiet part of town, so if you’re looking for that, you’ll be fine. I only had a couple pints with a friend because we were staying nearby, and we stood out amongst the older crowd. Everyone had a Guinness or a Beamish, and it was as lowkey as I’ve seen. Nothing wrong with it that I found, but I’m not eager(as a tourist) to go again.

Terenure isn’t exactly where you’d head for a crazy night out on the town, so it’s only expected that the pubs in the area would be of the more old man pub variety. Vaughan’s is like an old man’s pub with a bit of a renovation. It’s a good place to catch a quiet pint in the early afternoon or if you want to have a few drinks later in the evening, but don’t really feel like going wild.

Although its now more popularly known as a Gastropub, a new concept to Ireland, food in pubs that isn’t shite. Vaughn’s Eagle house or the Eagle house has been a pub in one form or another for a good few years and not always a good one. The main bar, in the traditional sense, in on the ground floor, which is actually below the main floor as you walk in. Sounds confusing as the pub is split over 4 levels but basically the door on Terenure road North entrance will get you in there bar area, its small and cosy and has a good smattering of regulars. The omni present widescreens are there in force too. Terenure ain’t a good drinking town, Bradys is ok and gub dandys at the back at the trad sessions as much excitement as your going to get. Still the Eagle house has come a long way and if your going for a drink and not having food still a nice place with a great buzz, does tend to get a older more settle crowd so don’t expect any broken windows or bar brawls.
