After dinner one night while in Sligo, my husband convinced me to have a pint at a local dive bar called Foleys. This place was a gem. A public house filled with regulars and teeming with the promise of fresh Guinness, this place was salt of the earth. The barmaid was a woman in her 50s who constantly had to exercise her powers to keep her cheeky male regulars in line. Everyone there knew one another and the place felt comfortably worn. We exchanged the usual«where yous from?» with the regulars, our answers followed by nostalgic renditions of past trips to New York and Boson. The whiskey and brandy selection were worth a trip back there themselves! Foleys sometimes has traditional music. I’ll be the first to tell you that music or not, it’s a place to grab a pint and weave yourself into the delightful banter of the locals.

This is a window display with a difference. What a fine selection of drinks on display in the window. You can choose from Brandies. Whiskeys. Sherries or Port depending on what your fancy is. This is a traditional old pub and off licence and if you are lucky you could be there for some traditional Irish music. Slainte.
