On arrival, they presented me with photos of the car and asked me to confirm that there was no damage, without a proper inspection of the car. They told me even if there is damage it will be covered by insurance.(!) On return, the Hertz guy pointed immediately to a cut in the front tyre and dent in the wheel. While possible, I think I’d have noticed this if it had happened during my rental, which was low mileage 150 km. They said it MUST have happened during my rental because they check it before it goes out, and there was no argument — charge £200 which cannot be claimed on insurance. They also tried to claim I had an upgrade — they backed down on that when challenged. Obvious lesson — don’t trust photos confirming that the car has no damage, especially at Shannon Hertz.

If I could leave fewer than one star for Hertz Car Rental, I absolutely would. BUYERBEWARE. Hertz agents will tack on additional charges, i.e., insurance, without telling you, even after you have told them that you do not want the insurance. Trying to get this resolved without success has been a nightmare. I have never had such terrible treatment from a company ever. DONOTRENTFROMHERTZ. Numerous emails have essentially ended with Hertz inferring I’m a liar. Obviously they have not truly investigated my situation because if they had, they would have seen that I purchased the additional insurance several month prior to my travels. Why would I have redundant insurance on my rental??? Hertz does not care about its customers, plain and simple. They’re rude and dishonest. I’m so grateful there are other quality car rental companies to choose from as I will never rent from this one again.
