The race is most definitely on, will I go bald before I go grey? Will grey manage to just sneak in before the last of my beloved follicles gives way to gravity? The smart money seems to be on a shiny dome before I’m 40, the big tell-tale being the feeling of water on an oh so very exposed bald patch as the barber sprays my hair in preparation for a cutting. It is the turn of the Beacon barbers to try and make me look respectable and they are doing a pretty good job, though the scissors could do with a bit of a sharpening. End result is I look less like a homeless bum than usual; people have stopped throwing coins at me as I walk down the street and asking me if I have anywhere to sleep this evening, which is a good start. Cost is 15 for a dry cut, not the most expensive but unlike most other places they don’t do a reduced rate mid-week. Overall grand but won’t be my regular spot, deserves a 3.5 out of 5 but because we can’t do halves I’ll err on the side of generous with a 4⁄5.
