Early bird for € 25 or € 20 if you get a burger as your main? Eh… Yes please! Fab price. If, the food is good that is! And well… It was just that.
I started with the goats cheese starter which came on a crisp bread, leafs and other fancy bits. It was very tasty indeed and I loved the presentation.
I opted for the good oul burger with blue cheese as there burger options were good. It came with a choice of skinny fries or fat chips.(I got skinny) the burger was homemade and full of flavor. Worth trying for new diners but I’d try a different main dish should I return. Just because the main dishes looked lovely aswell.
The deserts were spot on. Myself and my friend (a fellow Unilocaler) shared the pear tart and cheesecake. Mmmm… just delicious. Both equally as good as each other. All in all well worth value for money for a good hearty 3 course meal.

They do an excellently-​priced Early bird here — 3 courses for € 20 (if your main is a burger) and € 25 otherwise. I had the chicken pâté and it was one of the nicest I’ve ever had, flavoured with sherry and with a lovely onion marmalade on top, it was rich and creamy and served with plenty of bread to slather it over… really top-​notch stuff!
My Mexican burger failed to live up to the heights of the starter but it was still very tasty, just nothing out of the ordinary. The guacamole it came with was very fresh and zesty though, and it was a really decent sized burger, one that I would quite happily eat again.
The desserts claimed to be home-​made and you could definitely taste it — the pastry on the pear tart was deliciously flaky and crispy and the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake was really good — very light, despite appearances! For € 20 for three generous-​sized dishes, McGoverns really is exceptional value for money and the food is excellent considering the price, would definitely return but would try something other than the burger next time.

We booked here for our girls Christmas dinner, the early bird menu is great value and loads to choose from. Even if you don’t go for the early bird, the menu isn’t expensive and they cater for everyone.
The staff were excellent, so polite and professional, and kept checking on us, even though the restaurant was very busy.
We all got starters, and no one was disappointed, one of the girls got chicken wings, amazing! There was enough on the plate for 3 people, so we all had a taste!
I got the blue cheese burger with chunky chips and fresh garlic mayo on the side. This was a task and a half to eat it but was so good I didn’t want to leave any.
Extremely good value for the high standard of food, I will be back to try more and try fit a desert next time!

I was staying in Swords and took the day to discover Malahide. The evening was coming and I started to check the menu of the places around. I found many of the places very expensive, the only one that wasn’t was an indian not so far, but I wasn’t in the mood for spicy food. This is why I ended up at Mac Governs.
I wasn’t sure about this place first, since it looked way more classy that what I was in the mood for, but I’ve been convinced by the fact that nearly everything on their menu is marked as Gluten free or can be made Gluten Free, even the burger’s buns!
So I went in this place with a little preconception, but this was actually unfounded because as soon as I got into the restaurant, the welcoming has been really nice and the service even more!
I was first interested in the lamb that seemed great but since I recently developed a passion for pineapple in main courses I went for the Aussie burger with Gluten free buns (which they don’t even charge for !). It took a little while to come but I wasn’t in a rush anyway.
When it came I was really impressed: it was huge and looked awesome (way better that in my picture!). And it was actually awesome, and even better than that! The meat was tender and tasty, all the ingredients were fitting perfectly together…
If I had to go back there it would be with pleasure, I would actually love to, and I definitely recommend this place, at the time for the service, and for their great food too.
