We are a traditional family run butcher, based in Macroom, supplying high quality fresh Irish meat, sourced locally from West Cork farms in Ireland. We aim at all times to deliver only the very finest quality meats, value for money, and excellent service to our valued customers. We offer only the very best range of Irish quality meats, specially selected from local farms on behalf of our customers. All our beef is Irish Angus or Hereford traditionally reared in West Cork, supporting our local rural farming community.
Now, also breeding and retailing Wagyu X beef to retail and trade customers.
History
Established in 1996.
Michael Twomey Butchers opened in September 1996, in the town of Macroom, Co. Cork; supplying the highest quality, specially selected, fresh Irish Beef, Pork, Chicken, Lamb, and Bacon to our loyal customers.
We aim to deliver, at all times, only the very finest quality meats, value for money, and excellent service to our valued customers.
Twomey’s are a traditional Irish family butcher, working hand-in-hand with local Irish farmers to produce top quality beef, lamb, pork, poultry, hand made sausages & burgers. We also offer bespoke cuts, designed for parties, BBQ’s, and special occasions. All our beef is Irish Angus or Hereford, reared in the traditional way, in West Cork, supporting our local rural farming community.
We are the only Guaranteed Irish accredited butcher in Ireland. All our meat is 100% Irish. Approx 80% of our meat comes from within a 20 mile radius of Macroom Town. Now breeding & retailing Wagyu X Beef, with intense marbling; fantastic flavour & tenderness.

Business Owner
Michael has been a butcher for many years, beginning in his early teens and gradually working his way up the ranks, while honing his craft to exceptionally high levels. Michael regularly gives demonstrations and speaks about butchery, meat (getting value, particular cuts) and, healthy-eating, to local interested groups (ICA, Teagasc etc.) and at schools in the locality.
Michael has only ever believed in having Irish meat, in both of our shops. We do not offer any imported meat; ever. As a result of his passion, and having built up a superb network of local farmers, who could supply the finest of meats, Michael decided to apply for Guaranteed Irish accreditation. He is delighted to be able to say that his are the only Guaranteed Irish™ butchers shops in the country.
Furthering on the success of the traditional Irish meats, Michael took an interest in raising the quality of Irish beef even more, and so developed an interest in Wagyu.
