O’Dwyers Kilmacud is very much a local pub with a difference. Our bar is modern, bright and friendly. But for those looking for a more traditional Irish pub join us in our little bar where we have a pool table. dart board and big screen tvs. We serve breakfast, lunch and evening meals in the bar from 9 in the morning till 10 at night. we also cater for parties with no room rental charge.
O’Dwyers Restaurant which is located upstairs in the premises is a bistro style restaurant specializing in steak and fish dishes. We cater for Large groups or any occasions. Open for lunch aswell. We have very good deals on offer e.g. 2 course meal for € 16.95
History
Established in 1959.
Mr. William O’Dwyer a native of Tipperary bought his first pub at the foot of the Dublin Mountains, Rockbrook Co. Dublin in 1954.
In 1958 he bought a newly built shop unit at 118 Lower Kilmacud Road. This was one of three, the others being a chemist and a butchers, built around a new housing estate.
William applied for a licence and was successful.
In 1968 Mr. O’Dwyer bought the chemist shop and expanded the pub. The pub operated very much as a local with the men drinking in the bar and the ladies mainly in the lounge.
In the 1970s and 1980s soup and sandwiches were served but otherwise there was no food service in the pub. By now William’s sons had entered the business and continued on the family tradition.
In the late 1990s a food licence was successfully applied for and a kitchen was added upstairs.
In 2003 with Billy and Grainne O’Dwyer running the pub they took over the butcher expanding the pub even more. Now the pub has a lounge, bar with pool table and dart board downstairs and
