This is a really nice old-Irish style pub where you can get good seats to watch a match if you’re lucky. The upstairs bar is particularly nice and though there’s always people near the bar, they’re always quick enough to get through. Once one barman was unable to take my card at the time, and the pints had already been poured, but allowed me to come back and pay for that round when I was on my next one. I really appreciated that kind of trust, especially on a busy day.

Through the multitude of pubs and clubs in Galloway, we decided to spend our evening at the Dail Bar. This cool, authentic pub is committed to its Western Ireland teams(meaning rugby and Futbol) they have tbsp all over but not too much to bother you when listening to the regularly playing live music. Our bartender was fast and responsive to our need for Guinness(which was ample…) and offered all sorts of insights on team prospects. There seemed to be a pretty even mix of locals and out-of-towners and all were well behaved. Have fun!

I ordered the lunch special of stuff lamb and potatoes and man did it not disappoint. My wife and I tried two different drinks and we were taken back by how good the Galway beer company Hooker was and the Orchard Thieves cider tasted. I never found a cider I would drink but this one was bomb. It tasted just like apple juice and coming for a guy who hates juice this one I would drink again. It did feel like a typical local/tourist heavy venue but who cares the place had awesome vibes and the staff was funny and nice. We had a pair of local ladies getting faded next to us and man were they entertaining.

We’ve learned not to expect good meals at pubs, but based on reviews we thought we’d give this place a try. We are glad we did! We had the best Irish meal in all of Ireland. The seaood chowder was simply perfection! My salmon dinner exceeded expectations, and my husbands Cod served on chorizo and beans was so flavorful he wanted to go back for dinner again as soon as we left. Service was great, they have a real team work moral, any one walking by checks on you, grabs a dish, or notices if your glass is empty and offers a refill. The ambience is historic, tastefull, and fun. We highly recommend this place! They also had music later in the evening.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Draft selection was superb. Jerry was the person assisting us with all the important decisions(such as what desserts to get)… And definitely added to the experience. Might go back tomorrow, it was«THAT» good; and we’re only here for two days :)

Gorgeous Irish pub with an awesome menu! The Dail served me the best salad I had in all of Ireland. I got the Irish Goat Cheese Salad and it was out of this world. First of all, Ireland has like the best goat cheese I’ve ever had so it’s hard to mess up anything with it. Secondly this salad was the perfect mix of arugula, tangy cheese, very flavorful sun dried tomatoes, and crunchy pine nuts. I’d recommend getting it dressed on the side because I found that the oil from the tomatoes and creaminess of the cheese was the perfect amount of «coating» the salad needed. I can’t even remember what my husband had or if he liked it, I was so obsessed with the deliciousness of my meal. We came on a Friday evening and the place was really bustling. The service was pretty quick and everyone was nice.

As another Unilocaler said, this bar/resturant is the quindesessial Irish pub. Dark wood throughout, small tables, and a fireplace all set the mood. We stopped in during our first afternoon in Galway looking for some tradional Irish food and the lamb stew didn’t disapoint. Harty with mashed potatos in in, it filled us up and kept us going as we strolled the streets. Price seemed a bit steep but with the ambiance and the food, it was still a lovely visit.

This bar is so quintiscential Irish, it is a must if you are roaming the streets of Galway! I just adore the atmosphere here; the old woodwork, fireplace, benches that look like church pews, it’s all awesome. The food is wonderful too, as it is a step above regular pub food. I had lamb cutlets and could not believe how delicious they were. That, along with my smithwick’s, made me feel more irish than I ever have before! My dad and husband both opted for the steak special. In super pricey Galway, this has to be the best deal in town. For $ 16.95 euro you get a pint, a steak, wings, fries, and mashed potatoes. Both guys loved it and said their steak was delicious. The Dail comes highly recommended by yours truly for some of the best pub food around!

Wow, talk about ‘typical’ Irish in every way! This bar has a nice traditional feel overall. Which ever way you enter, you’ll always spot the bar in front of you, with tables and booths around it. There are a few TVs set up around the bar for your match day viewing pleasures as well. The bar seemed clean, so I chose my spot. From the menu, I ordered the Seafood Chowder, € 5.45. The Crab Claws, € 10.95, and a pint of Guinness, € 4.20. Total: € 20.60. The Seafood Chowder was good; It contains locally caught fish with a few soft potatoes. The chowder itself was tasty! More soupy, and not so creamy thick. It was also served with homemade brown bread. I wouldn’t mind ordering this the next time. The Crab Claws were also decent; This was served in a savory garlic cream sauce, side of salad and more of the homemade brown bread. Although the highlight of this dish was the sauce, I found the claws quite a bit of a challenge. I couldn’t easily get all the meat off the claw in one bite. It may have been a bit overcooked. I did have fun dipping the bread in the sauce, but that was about it! Also the warm bowl of water to clean your fingertips with was of great use too! Overall, I liked this place and I wouldn’t mind doing another pint here, but most likely would try something different next time. Service wasn’t rude or anything, just a little bland. Hardly any smiling, but busy cleaning and organizing. I’d have to waive the bartender down just to get a little attention. No biggie. A satisfying place to kick it!

Best Onion Rings EVER!!! had some Irish coffee and cider. On a cold day(well cold for someone from California) the warm onion rings and the warm irish coffee(although i dont recommend you have them together) really hit the spot and made me warm before I had to go out again!

The Dail Bar became OURPLACE on our multi-day stay in Galway City. The service was always excellent, the drinks were perfectly and generously poured. We happened upon the place quite by accident, but returned daily for lunch/dinner and even went in during evening hours for drinks and to enjoy the music. The atmosphere in the pub was perfectly to our liking. There are extra seats upstairs should the downstairs portion be full. Being a cold week in Ireland, we took advantage of the soup of the day, always a fresh choice, served with delicious brown bread and steaming hot, healthy, and delicious. There is a peat fire burning downstairs, just adding to the warmth and ambiance. We also enjoyed the warm chicken salad, which was fresh and healthy as well. One day, we wanted to try the goat cheese salad, but wished to add chicken, which the server and the kitchen took absolutely no issue with and served it up perfectly, right away. The prices are completely fair as well. Our server even remembered us and asked us about various plans we had discussed and how they turned out for us. We felt that she genuinely cared about us and our holiday! We will always think fondly of The Dail Bar, and will DEFINITELY return should we ever be fortunate enough to visit the Emerald Isle again! Slainte!

This is a really handy place to call in early along in the evening for a pub dinner. There is a good range of food on the menu which ranges in price from about € 5 for soup to about € 16 for steak dishes.(If you are vegetarian however the soup is probably the only thing you can have.) The staff provide a service which is both efficient and very warm. All of our food was lovely, and after it there was no pressure at all to immediately settle the bill then leave the table free. The general vibe from the place was old-school great craic; this is not a ‘trendy’ bar at all, thankfully. I could have happilly settled in for the night. I knocked a point off here because there are just too many tables out on the floorspace, so at every turn, be it to bar, loo, exit, your way is blocked and you have to start asking people who are busy having their dinner to please move their chairs, kids, etc. No idea at all how the waitresses deal with that! There also isn’t a smoking area or terrace if that’s important. As a whole, however, the Dáil was really enjoyable and I’ll be going again.

So I was pulled in by their special of wings, steak, and a pint. I did love the atmosphere and the interior. I would definitely go back just for drinks. The service was good and quick. I had my wings with BBQ sauce and they were fantastic. The BBQ sauce was very good… I find it is difficult to find a good BBQ sauce in Europe, but this was delicious… even had a hint of spice to it. The steak… well mine was very fatty and tough, but everyone else’s seemed to be just fine. However, everything else on the plate was delicious… the chips were good, but my favourite part of the dish was the mushroom sauce that accompanied the steak. It was delicious. While I wouldn’t order the steak again, I’d definitely stop in again.
