Thanks, Gary. If anyone wants to hear the long version of my story, I’d be glad to tell it.
In a nutshell, I moved out in September of 2013 with someone lined up to take the room (a requirement at HomeSeekers if you want your money back – you have to find your replacement), and the day after I left Ireland for America, that person bailed. Well, my former housemates had people living in the house until one ended up paying a full deposit and first months rent, only to bail. Even after receiving the deposit and extra rent (in addition to receiving rent for my room the entire time I’ve been gone), HomeSeekers is still holding onto my deposit. I write them monthly, sometimes weekly, and I’ve called once or twice to check on the «progress» of my deposit.
Long story short, this process has been a nightmare, and I’m one month away from hiring a lawyer/​solicitor. This kind of cruel practice needs to be fixed.

I expect that by the time I get my security deposit back, global warming will have covered the world in water.
