I think this place used to be called something else(Da Tang Noodle House) until quite recently. But anyway — lovely Asian place on Middle street. Looks tiny from the outside, but inside has a nice room which is cosy and bright. And of course, when you walk in there is that authentic Asian smell of food that bodes well. The theme is Asian: there’s a fair bit to process on the menu. It says on the outside«Thai. Chinese. Malaysian. Vietnamese» — and I am always afraid of places like this — trying to do too much, and doing nothing well, is often the case. It’s certainly not the case here, but if I had any gripe, it would be to pare back the menu to just focus on the stuff they do very well. Like the dumplings — a house speciality — they arrived steamed, tasty and delicious. I had Nasi Goreng for mains — very very tasty — just missing that crucial ingredient of the egg on top, but still, delicious. If i was faulting it I’d say the Nasi is slightly less authentic than some I’ve had elsewhere, but that’s being picky. The other main, a Thai Beef salad, was absolutely fantastic — a perfect combination of ingredients, textures, crunch, dressing and heat. Spot on. Staff were really lovely and very helpful, including making some very good recommendations on some green teas we should try out! All in all — highly recommend and will return.
