More than DOUBLED the previously agreed price by deliberately running the meter. We had agreed on a price of 50 Euro, plus tip, for a ride for three ppl: Ennis to Doolin’. I expected to pay 60 Euro with tip. Yes, our final destination changed by two miles once in Doolin’, but he kept«allowing» himself to get hopelessly lost, stopping(meter running all the while) to ask multiple random people for help to locate the final destination, despite my protests and help with navigation(though I was the tourist and he’d lived in Clare his entire life and profession is listed as «taxi driver»…I was better at figuring out where to go). At first I thought he was sincerely confused, but when the meter was set at 80 Euro(not 50 Euro) just before we tried to find the final spot and then he spent 30 minutes stopping every person/car along the way, I realized he was purposefully running up the meter. What could we do but pay him the final amount: 125 Euro! Yes, you read that right: 125 Euro. What the heck could I do: two kids in tow, in the middle of the countryside! JERK. NEVER use him. CONARTIST, CRIMINAL. Rip off. It was the worst thing that happened to us during our entire trip to Ireland. We used a great guy for the return trip to Ennis who charged us 50 Euro plus tip, for the exact same trip reversed: Doolin’ to Ennis. DONOTUSETONY. Use Alamo Cabs.
