Westin Hotel Dublin

What a pleasant by spot for ‘the most peculiar’ high tea. I met some old school friends here to celebrate a friends engagement and it really is a great place to host an event. We were offered two different menu options the peculiar one which comes with a Hendricks gin cocktail in a teapot! The other menu was a lovely festive menu filled with Xmas themed bites. We picked a selection and everyone (all 10 of us) were really thrilled with the choices. We did think the olive tapenade needed a few more breadsticks but that was all. If your looking to have a luxury evening with some gal pals this is the spot for you. P. S don’t forget to look up and that beautiful aviary above you X

My husband and I stayed during a quick weekend trip in November and couldn’t have been happier with our choice of accommodations. The Westin Dublin’s rooms are up to date, clean and well-​appointed. Noise levels were minimal and the bed was, as usual, Heavenly. The breakfast buffet at this hotel is not to be missed! Concierge service was incredibly helpful and friendly and got us booked on a tour that we might have otherwise missed. (That said, make sure to stick to the concierge staff for advice and recommendations as a desk staffer incorrectly informed my husband that he did not require reservations at a certain restaurant and we missed out.) There is free wifi in the lobby and paid in rooms.
Finally, it should be noted that there is quite of a bit of construction going on in Dublin (2015) and to the street outside of The Westin Dublin. If anyone is a stickler for first impressions, the current set up might throw them off a bit. That said, the hotel is within walking distance of so much. Trinity College, Grafton Street, nightlife galore, public transportation if your feet get sore.

At first we were not happy with our room, very small and it seemed like we had no windows… we almost turned around and upgraded, we originally thought we had booked a king… but our little hobbit house of a room ended up being very cozy, with a great shower and a skylight that we later discovered! The Location was PERFECT! Across the street from Temple bar area, across the street from Trinity college! Very close to Grafton street. The Westin did not disappoint

Great location. I had a suite which was nice, but the hallway had recently experienced flooding from a burst pipe — and the rancid smell on the entire 2^nd floor was really bad. WiFi was really slow. Location is great. Not really many places in lobby to relax without having to order food or drinks.

Ganz nah am Kneipenviertel «Temple Bar» und auch zentral gelegen in der Stadt für Arbeit und Vergnügen! Ein typisches Business-​Hotel mit allen Vorzügen auch für die Touristen. Zimmer sind gut und der Service perfekt!

Excellent !!! The service here is excellent !!! All staff are very attentive and helpful top marks ! The hotel is beautiful and the lobby area is do cosy and tranquil.. afternoon tea was delightful ! … 30 euro per person and an extra seven euro per person for a glass of prosseco. huge coffee pots with refills. sambos were cucumber. salmon on brown soda bread. egg mayonnaise and roast beef ! … scones were warm with plenty of jam and cream ! Gorgeous !

The Westin is such a cute hotel and is super fancy on the inside. My mom and I got a room with two cozy beds and the bathroom was big enough to live in with a separate shower and a jacuzzi like bathtub. I slept like a baby in my own bed and wished I could bring both the shower and tub home with me.
The service is super friendly, the bellman would always brighten upon seeing my mom and I when we got back from exploring and they all have tags with their names and passions on them to encourage conversations.
The breakfast in the morning is amazing. It’s buffet style (you can order off of a menu as well if you like) where you can get delicious Irish bacon, eggs, button mushrooms (a huge staple diet in Ireland and are super tasty); and also has a variety of breads and fruits and fresh yogurts as well. You don’t leave hungry!
The hotel is also conveniently near Temple Bar and Trinity College so you can go out and have a pint or some pub food or go over to the college to check out the Book of Kells. Great location, great people, great rooms, and great service. Highly recommend!
Green Features: They encourage you to reuse your towel and have a place where you put your card to activate the lights to ensure the lights go off and not use energy while you’re gone.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Close to shopping, pubs, restaurants and anything else you can think of.
The rooms are modern and very comfortable with large bathrooms and lots of counter space for toiletries.
The staff was the highlight of our stay. Always very friendly and helpful. When we checked out and arrived at the airport, I realized I left my diamond ring in the bathroom. Irena sent someone up to the room, found the ring and sent it in a cab to the airport so I could get it back before heading back to the states. WOW. How honest and kind. I can’t thank them enough.

The Westin made for the perfect stay on a recent bachelor party to Dublin. The location is ideal and well within walking distance of the best restaurants, pubs and attractions.
The rooms are modern, clean and well appointed; and the staff is courteous, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure you have a world class experience.
An added perk is The Mint bar located in the lower level of the hotel. Food and drinks are extremely good here, and the bar attracts more upscale local clientele from what I could gather.

The following rant about allergies is not totally the Westin’s fault, so much as an accumulation of reactions from eateries, the latest of which happened at the Westin!
Lots of time when you say you have an allergy, that gets interpreted as ‘just doesn’t like’… as if not liking something wasn’t a perfectly legitimate reason not to eat it when you’re paying for your food. I have a host of food allergies because that’s how it works, but I can avoid most of them by just reading a menu. One that I cannot avoid that way is black pepper. Another thing about allergies is that reactions are not predictable. I can’t tell you whether I’ll have no reaction, swollen lips or spend the rest of the evening in the bathroom. I also can’t know that I won’t suddenly have a much more severe reaction.
A 13 euro sandwich in the Atrium bar at the Westin comes with parsnip crisps flavoured with black pepper. I asked these things to be left off my plate because allergy. simples. I didn’t ask for a replacement, I said the word ‘allergic’, and they were there anyway. Even if I just didn’t like them, wouldn’t that be enough of a reason not to put them on my plate? And of course maybe the server just forgot or didn’t understand, but dammit it’s fecking 13 euro sandwich.
Btw if you can’t accommodate someone’s stated allergy, just tell them. It’s actually preferable to go and get fed somewhere else than to play russian roulette with an over-​reactive immune system. If you don’t believe in allergies/​gravity/​whatever and insist on feeding people things they’ve told you they don’t want, please consider getting out of the business where you ask people to pay you for making food they like.
Aside from allergy rants the sandwich was fine, but not spectacular. A pot of tea costs 5.50 but it comes with a few posh biscuits that hit the spot. The venue is quite nice with an open feeling and very comfortable furniture. For the record I would go back for tea and cake, but I’ll be avoiding their savoury dishes! And I’d have given them three stars if they didn’t ignore my allergy!

The Atrium café is a little oasis, I love it so. Built on the first floor of what was once the building’s courtyard and roofed over with glass, it’s a real treat to have tea or a bite here. Of course, a pot of tea for one costs € 5.50 but how and ever! It comes with tea leaves, beautifully presented, and there is a small selection of biscuits which are perfect for dippage. Well worth stopping off for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Staff is very friendly and the hotel itself is quaint. Why only 3 stars, you might ask? Because the rooms are very «meh». My room in particular had a very strong smell of feces which wasn’t good.

I haven’t ever stayed here but was brought here for my birthday by my wonderful Fiancé for their most peculiar afternoon tea.
Firstly it must be mentioned how beautiful this place is, roaring fire as you walk in from the freezing cold outside & a beautifully decorated atrium where we sat for afternoon tea. When we sat down & ordered they asked if we would like a glass of prosecco while we waited (obviously not for free, but still a nice touch). At one point one of the waiters asked if we would like our picture taken which I thought was a really nice touch too.
When the food itself came it was absolutely to die for. As was the afternoon tea because you see with this most peculiar afternoon tea your teapot is filled with Mojitos instead of tea!
On the top tier was the savoury food — which in itself is unusual as the savoury is normally the bottom (& largest) tray — & not a sandwich in sight! Confit of pork cheek, prawn cocktail, spiced roast beef wrap, smoked salmon with caviar & black olive & tomato tapenade. All bite sized. All delicious.
Tier two was banana & walnut bread with cinnamon & honey butter. I am NOT a banana bread fan but this stuff was delicious! & so well complemented by the honey butter.
Tier three included a tarragon cookie (this was just a mouthful of sugar, not entirely unpleasant but definitely one for the sugar fans), popping vanilla marshmallows (a throwback to your childhood while keeping it classy, loved these), almond & redcurrant frangipane tarte, chocolate & caramel seasalt brownie and, the star of the show for me, popcorn panna cotta topped with toffee popcorn crumble… Just the most unbelievable flavour i’ve ever experienced!
Everything on the day was perfect, from the flavours of the food, to the mojito tea to the prosecco (which we had 2 glasses of, one before & one after). The staff were great, the service was excellent & I never once felt rushed or obliged to leave despite the fact that they were quite clearly fully booked.
The only reason I’m docking one star is because I would have expected more savoury food & the little bite-​sized portions of each item didn’t do much for one with a big appetite (which my fiancé certainly has). A handfull of sandwiches or something slightly more substantial in the savoury layer certainly wouldn’t have gone amiss.
I will definitely be back!

I absolutely LOVED this hotel! The reception area is beautiful with roaring fires and comfy arm chairs. The staff are so friendly and welcoming! We loved our room which had a massive bed, lots of space, a beautiful bathroom with a shower and bathtub and lots of wardrobe space.
The location is also very handy with bus stops nearby and all the fantastic restaurants and shops in either direction– can’t wait to go back!

I stayed here for one night and have zero complaints.
The location is right in the middle of the city, one of the most central hotels in Dublin. They also have valet parking so you can just leave your car with them and its taken care of.
Staff are attentive and the whole place is beautifully kept. Some extremely beautiful rooms in this old building. The bedrooms are also lovely, and must be sound proofed because I didn’t hear any noise from the outside. Food is great too, though expensive.

Beautiful hotel, great location and nice rooms with all of the amenities.
The location of the hotel is key — super close walk to River Liffey, Financial District, Grafton Street, Temple Bar, and right across the street from Trinity College. It was close enough to everything we wanted to see and do without being right in the Temple Bar district which can get very loud.
I was here for several days on business and then my wife came to join me for some adventure. The location is close to the financial district so it was a close walk for me to get to the office buildings. It was also centrally located to the more pedestrian friendly tourist areas such as Grafton Street and Temple Bar District.
We stayed in a very modern room with all of the amenities you would expect from a Westin, especially the super comfortable bed. We received a warm welcome and were quickly checked in. We got a very good nights sleep.
Had tea in the Atrium Lounge. This atrium is really a beautiful and nice place to sit, relax and have tea. Its a must see if you are in the hotel.
The staff are a great asset — very friendly and helpful in all areas.
I highly recommed this hotel.

Had the most peculiar tea time ever.
Beautifully presented, food was great and kudos for the Victorian mojito in a teapot.

I am very picky when it comes to where I stay, and more often than not I am often disappointed in the price vs. quality of most European hotels.
I am happy to say that after a two night stay this past week, I can confirm that the Westin Dublin deserves 5 stars!
Location: Perfect. 5 minutes to Trinity College, Grafton, Temple Bar, and pretty much any other centrally located attraction one could think of.
Room: The Westin is part of Amex’s Fine Hotel and Resorts program, which is often the service we use when booking our hotels. We booked a deluxe room and were upgraded to a two story suite per the FHR deal. From the winding staircase to the beautiful sitting room to the balcony, I have nothing negative to say. The room was also spotless, which is always a huge thing for me.
Service: Top notch. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, check-​in and check-​out was a breeze, and I loved the added note on each name tag of what the individual’s «passion» is. Such a great conversation starter.
A few minor negatives: room service food is rather bland and (as always) overpriced. Avoid it. Also, our duvet had a blood stain on it but that problem was quickly remedied by the cleaning staff.
Overall: I highly recommend this hotel. I’ve had great luck with Westins around the world. Definitely my go-​to hotel when traveling.

Afternoon tea.
This has to be the best afternoon tea I have had in Dublin.
It comes in two forms: traditional and peculiar.
The traditional form is exactly what you expect, sandwiches, scones and desserts. Expertly done and a joy in traditional fair.
The peculiar my partner had, mojitos server in a tea pot, pork cheeks in Stilton aioli (which was the highlight of the tea for him)
The atmosphere is a relaxed, jazz toned cushion. Elegant and comfortable without being exclusionary.
I would recommend this and a brilliant introduction to the relaxed world of afternoon tea.

I went here for afternoon tea to celebrate friend’s birthday, and wow was it an afternoon to remember!
You can choose between the «Traditional Afternoon Tea» (sandwiches, scones etc.) or the «Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea» which offers a delightful twist to what you’d assume afternoon tea to be; mojitos served in teapots, prawn cocktail cones, crackling marshmallow bites!..
Of course we opted for the «Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea» (any excuse for a bit of daytime drinking!) and I am so glad we did.
The presentation was the same as your typical afternoon tea in that it came out on a three-​tiered display, but the food itself was far beyond what you’d expect! From the silver spoon of Pork cheek to the caviar-​topped slamon blinis, followed by mouth-​watering (but oh-​so heavy) desserts including popcorn panacotta (the added popcorn was a bit random I must admit!), we were left requesting a crane to transport us out of our cushioned chairs.
As good as the food was, the surroundings were even nicer. The afternoon tea is served in the Atrium Lounge which is gorgeous in itself, with over-​looking windows and a high glass ceiling that lets in so much natural light.
All-​in-​all I would say this is a lovely place to treat someone to something special, and make sure to leave yourself enough time to soak up the experience entirely, this afternoon tea is not to be rushed!

The Westin Dublin is a classical «international Hotel «- nothing special but quite ok. The location is excellent right in the center of Dublin. The service is engaged but a bit confused. The rooms are plaesant but nothing special. All over: good average !

Location is great and conveniently located next to the Temple Bar area. We were located on the 5^th floor overlooking the atrium lounge. The room and halls were traditionally decorated on the 5^th floor but the first floor looked to be recently updated. The gym had a few treadmills, bikes, free weights, and a couple of other machines.
I was disappointed in the inconsistency in service. We opted for their late breakfast option at 1030am instead of the normal buffet. For the first breakfast they allowed us to select more than one item and provided it free of charge based on platinum status. The next day my husband went to breakfast alone and they only allowed him one item and also charged $ 5 for the hot item. It is really surprising as we have traveled all over the world to various Starwood hotels and almost never have been charged for a hot breakfast option. This actually has only happened once .also at a Westin.
In addition, we had a 4pm late checkout which is standard with platinum status and asked if we could extend this for one more hour. I was dreadfully ill from food poisoning so the extra time would have been nice. They offered us another hour with a charge of 20 – 30 euros… great.
