Tomohachi

I saw the place, I went in and i was not disappointed at all. It it a family orianted restuarant which gives it this cosiness and warm feeling when sit in. The atmosphere is good in general and the food is delicious. I tried their sushi (vegetarian sushi with mushrooms), dumplings, fried rice, miso soup and i really enjoyed the meal with their green tea. I would suggest this restaurant for those who like Japanese food.

After being priced out/​timed out (stupid waiting times…) to get into some dinner places around here, we popped down a side street and found this lovely little Japanese restaurant which only opened a few months ago.
It was also pretty damn quiet for a Weds and could take our large group of 10 making it a perfect option — especially due to the fact that they do a great early bird set course menu.
I ate the tofu, salmon rolls and gyoza which were all lovely — in fact everyone who got food had amazing looking food that really hit the spot!
A fairly average selection of Japanese beer (Kirin and Asahi) — would have loved to have got some Hitachino Nest beer or Asahi black to go alongside my fodder.

Aw, I really love this little spot.
While the rest of the area was packed with people, we got seated here right away. It’s a solid menu of Japanese items with an excellent Early Bird in the back (which went way later than expected). And we got so much food, ramen and sushi and starters, and it was all delicious.
They’re in no rush here, but neither were we. And despite having a table of some post-​karaōke rowdy idiots (myself included), we were welcomed in and let to roam free and be idiots and be fed at the same time. For that alone, the excellent service, they get a much deserved five stars.
Loved it, would go back for sure.

In the madness of Temple Bar, we were welcomed into Tomohachi with open arms and shown to a table of 10 like it was no big deal. This place has a lovely, relaxing vibe and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our meal.
I ordered from the set menu and shared a starter of tempura vegetables and gyoza. The tempura veg were incredible — a lovely generous portion, perfectly fried and even included my favourite of eggplant. Yum! I decided to get the sukiyaki for main for something a little different — beef hot pot with glass noodles) and this was served on stove to keep it hot while I ate. Just lovely — delicious tender beef and a raw egg to add into the broth as well.
We ate off the early bird menu which is about € 20pp and the beef had a € 4 supplement which I think was well worth it.

A few meters away only from the busy & touristy Temple Bar neighbourhood lies this pretty low-​key Japanese restaurant, that clearly deserves to be known… for many reasons. 1^st, the business owners are probably the sweetest persons on the planet. One feel that they are really there to serve you and welcome (we were a group of 10, never easy to manage).
The the food, Tomohachi offers a wide range of japanese dishes, from classic makis, udon & ramen, but also more sophisticated kimchi delights. My karaage chicken was delicious, as well as my salmon roll.
An overhaul super option if you’re looking for something genuine and not to expensive, before heading to one of the busy bars the neighbourhood has to offer.

I’m really surprised there’s not more reviews of this little gem! Hopefully this will get the ball rolling as it deserves to be visited. We walked in here as a group of 10 without a reservation and the delightful waiter/​front of house seated us with a smile on his face!
The staff were extremely accommodating, nothing we requested seemed to be an issue.
In terms of food the choice, it was excellent although I opted for the under € 20 early bird menu that obviously had limited options. I went for the crab claw salad for starter and then the shredded beef for main. They were both absolutely delicious.
There’s no complaints from me at all — great wee place and a must visit if you’re into Japanese food.

I went there on Christmas Eve to have a warm bowl of ramen, I was with my friends we got there and the place was nice very warm and the guy who welcome us was very nice. We ordered salmon roll, cashen ramen, chicken ramen and kimchi chahan. The salmon roll was very nice. The ramen was nice but it was so big for us so we ended up not finishing it all. And the kimchi chahan is nice but we had tasted a better one than that before. The service was so fats since we told the guy were very hungry already and they made it fast which was nice. We ordered desserts also we tried there home made ice cream even though it was freezing outside and it was the best. The people working there was so nice that they deserved a High amount of tip.

Ok, the place has an interesting decoration (and kinda not so dark as other places but rather very well lit). It tries to be traditional but also with some touches of modern Japanese pop culture.
They have some Bento boxes options (which is more flexible, as in ‘pick what you want’ than in other places), also several types of Noodles for lunch. Of course you can order from the menu as well (it’s got pictures of most of the items, so you can be sure of what you’re ordering)

Not excited by their Miso Soup.
Their noddles portion was ok sized (smaller than the usual), and nothing setting it apart from anywhere else.
The Green Tea Ice Cream is nice though.
Ok, but not amazing. And slightly pricier than the alternatives. Not going to be my first choice.

Aw this is just a gorgeous little place altogether. In the same venue as the old Dux & Co, though you’d never know it as they’ve renovated it to within an inch of it’s life and it’s all Japan now. Think pale wood everywhere, bamboo mainly, with the prerequisite random technology dotted round the place, like the giant ipad-​y things on the wall showing images of the menu.
The technology even extends to the ordering process — you are presented with an ipad to peruse the menu on and order off. It’s a kind of a novelty and pretty cool — they just need to make sure wifi is always up to scratch ;-) They also have the old fashioned paper versions if you’re so inclined (I think I’ll be into the novelty for a little longer though!!!)
Funny thing to notice but I loved the delph too — the guy said they bought everything when they were over in Hong Kong — the tea pots in particular are gorgeous — they have three different kinds depending on what kind of tea you’re having.
The food was lovely — my favourite was the kimchi fried rice which I’ve never had before, and would be tempted to have a bash of at home. The gyoza were really tasty as well, and presented in a cute way like a flower together which I hadn’t seen before.
Staff were gracious and professional. I’m pretty sure it’ll earn it’s five stars once it’s settled in a little bit more, but as a new kid on the block, it’s doing aaalllright.
