Like I said I am a fan of any chocolate, it doesn’t matter where it is from and Thorntons is a good chocolate store. They stock all the favourites and some of their own creations. They cater for every holiday from Father’s Day to Valentine’s to Easter and they have some great deals and offers on gift ideas. They also do a good line in Ice Cream. Great flavours and really creamy and rich, but over priced. However, if you compare this store to others around it does not pass the taste test and is not as exclusive or decadent as others like Butlers or Lily O’Briens.

Thornton’s is the spot to feast on some creamy chocolate, toffee, fudge, ice-cream or sweeties. The choccie flavours are tempting — from dessert delights like hazelnut slice and cherry truffle to fruity, champagne treats. However, giving Thornton’s as a gift doesn’t feel like a particularly special gesture to me — more liking giving dairymilk tray than some truly luxurious, scrumptious choccies. I agree with Kate — I’d rather opt for Butlers or even Lily O’Briens. Plus you’d be buying Irish! However, it is the perfect place to pop in for some colourful, novelty stocking-fillers or Easter bunny gifts.

Thorntons is on the ground floor of Stephens Green and basically sells lots of things that will big you big and round. Yummy delicacies like chocolate, ice cream and toffee. Yum! It’s an English company, and there stores have slowly started dotting around Dublin and beyond. I like their chocolate, but I have to say, I think it’s a poor man’s Butlers. Controversial! I just think everything is just so packaged and thrown out there — there’s not a whole lot of luxury attached to the brand. However, I do like their Easter eggs, especially the way you can have them personalised by having the person’s name written on them in white chocolate. Oh, and they also have those chocolate fountain things in all their stores too. Irresistible!
