Tiny pub, the Guinness is just right but not sure about the music. Not a big selection on spirits though, which isn’t great but it is fine.

I read all the reviews of this place and still thinking if I was there at the wrong time! We came in last Saturday before having dinner at the nearby Italian restaurant and we were just us. The owner or the bartender was in front of the counter watching rugby match, then he moved behind the counter and I ordered a pint of Guinness. I paid 5 Euro practically for a black water. The beer was horrible, probably the worst I tasted in Dublin in the past 10 years. I might got the last drops from the keg but was really bad. Or he disguised me for a tourist and switched the tap :-D No idea! I didn’t want to leave the pint almost full on the counter so I had to drink in some way. If was a sandwich I could have put in my pockets but beer :-) I had to drink it like I was taking bitter medicine. The bar is small, personalized with photos of rugby teams in contrast of modern ad banners from Diageo. It might be better if the bar is full of drunk lads but not a place for beer tasting. As the famous Dubliners song Wild Rover says: «No never, No more».

I’ve never written a review on Unilocal, but this place was so great that I had to sign up… This place isn’t flashy or over the top, but it’s cozy and friendly and well priced. It’s not touristy or loud. They pull a perfect pint of Guinness. Honestly one of the friendliest places I’ve ever been.

Small and uncomfortable pub. Signs for ‘live jazz music at 9:30′ translated to average guitarist starting at 10:30. The smoke from people sitting right outside the open doors wafted in, aggravating an already uncomfortable pub experience. Too many other pubs nearby that I’d go to before returning to The Wellington.

A great place on the corner in the sun for a pint. Or during winter to hide from the cold.

Small, quiet, unassuming pub. We reserved the one central oddly-shaped table in advance, and when we asked about pub food, the barman brought us out platters of sandwiches(cheese, chicken and ham with butter) with cute if paltry lettuce garnishes. Classic décor inside, though the spangly counters seem rather out of character. Beers were okay and I liked the very traditional-looking barmen, in shirts and ties and chatting with some regulars. A TV with a dedicated footie fan completed the picture.

I have to agree with Jenni on this one– the Wellington is a great spot for a quiet pint. The atmosphere is like in your favorite local with friendly customers and staff. There is a good mix of young and older people, but it can get quite busy on Fridays because it is a popular spot for after-work pints. The chairs are comfy and it’s a great spot to meet up with friends. The Wellington is also on the way into town if you’re planning a big night out. They also do have a lunch menu, but I haven’t been here for food yet.

The Wellington is one of my favorite places for a pint of Guinness. It has two floor, the upper floor is sometimes in use for parties, and the main level. Friendly ol bar man who really does pull one of the best pints of black in the city. Neighbourly atmosphere. A bit intimate. I think this is a great place to go for a pint after work or just to relax with a friend.
