The JCR(Junior Common Room) is a café run by Trinity College Dublin’s Student Union in Goldsmith Hall, a slightly off-campus building on Pearse Street. Without a doubt this is one of the cheapest places to eat in Dublin hence why a lot of Trinity students flock their to buy their lunch daily for unbeatably low prices. A tasty ham, cheese and tomato Panini will only set you back as far as € 2.50 and with a whole variety of hot and cold drinks on offer this is a very neat place to take pleasure in a low-cost lunch when taking a break from touring Trinity’s historical campus. The café is on the ground floor of Goldsmith Hall(often referred to as ‘Goldhall’ in Trinity, useful to remember if you were asking for directions), which is home to a lot of the societies within Trinity as well as some student accommodation and for this reason the building is very big and thus not difficult to miss from the outside. The ground floor boasts a storehouse look and air about it with exposed piping and pillars a plenty. This works in its favour as it nicely parallels the contemporaneous student foundations of this eatery. With two pool tables the café imparts a cool equilibrium of eating in conjunction with kicking back and enjoying a round of pool with your travel companion. All of the staff are students and in my experience have always been very proficient and courteous in their service. A worthy café to enjoy a low-priced lunch within the vicinity of majestic Trinity.
