Hhhmmm — The Good Bits… Interesting name for this place as there are certainly«good bits» to this establishment but alas there are also bad bits! I have been here a few times for lunch and after work drinks on a Friday. The main reason for coming here for after work drinks is mainly due to the fact that I work beside the IFSC and as a result you generally have 2 types of pubs to choose from… Pubs with unsavoury junkie alcoholic types or pubs with a**hole loafer wearing«Tarquin» types… The Good Bits has neither and seems to have a nice crowd drinking and eating there. So quite literally — here are the good bits to the Good Bits… They have quite a hefty menu where you can choose from nice reasonably priced tapas and other main courses also reasonably priced. I had a spaghetti meatball dish recently and it was really fresh and full of flavour. NOM noms… They have drinks promos as standard now so you can get your € 3.50 pint or your cheaper than the norm pint bottle of Bulmers. The décor is a tad«IKEA showroom» in parts but generally pretty comfy and nice to sit in. The bad bits… Bad cocktails. OK if you are paying € 5 for a cosmo you should not be expecting much but if all it tastes of is lime cordial then that is not good. I would rather pay € 8 for something better. Serving staff who are terribly nice but do tend to disappear at the most inopportune moments. Usually when you are waiting to pay or when you want to order more drinks. Without sounding like an aulwan the last couple times we had an issue with loud music. This is fine if it is after 9pm and you are ready to have a mega night out but when you have gone here straight from work at 5pm and would like a nice chat with your work colleagues it is not good to have music blaring from a speaker above your head. We asked for the music to be turned down a couple of times and it was barely lowered once. So we moved… All in all it’s a grand oul boozer. I will be going back no doubt but there are some improvements needed…(I hope you are reading this Good Bits Management)…

I have not been here at night, but I have dropped in for lunch quite a few times and I love their tapas menu and it is fully of gorgeous food and great prices. Last week I met a friend and we both went for the lamb special. Which was lamb kof with cous cous and and a pitta and salad and a side of chips all for 8 euro 50. IT was also severed with chilli aioli and natural yoghurt. I was very impressed and we both cleared the plate. The service was very friendly and efficient and one of the waitresses was just new to the country and she had just started work and she was well up to speed with the menu etc and she was loving Dublin. Great to hear a good review of our city too by someone who has just joined us. I will certainly be back again for lunchtime food as its a perfect place to meet for lunch if you are around this side of the city, as there is plenty of room to have a nice chat and enjoy the food and you are not left waiting for ages which can be a big problem with those who eat out on their lunch breaks. Well recommended.

I felt like a paedophile in here. A lecherous dance music whore amongst dancing children… Well over 18 year olds, I’m not that bad or desperate… Yet. I had never been here before. The cellar is probably one of the best dance venues I have ever seen & I have seen a lot of dance music venues. The DJ set was a London/Dublin collective. One of the singers dressed like a young Grace Jones. She was hot. She was amazing. Screaming punk and grime to a popping bass track. The children started screaming in excitement.

After a hardy session of Good Friday boozing, I was unsure if I’d have it in me for another night. My friend said she wanted to get her dance and kiss on. So, who was I to deny a gal either of those things? The real reason to go to The Good Bits was to check out Monochrome DJs, a duo who play a fun combination of 80s, 90s and contemporary hip hop and electro beats. Their aim is to get people dancing and it worked. I hadn’t bopped like that in a while! Black Cherry, an electro rock group, gave a cool performance also. We spent all our time in «The Cave», a dark, intimate room. The downside to the place was that the crowd was very young. I turned to my friend at one point and said, «I can almost see what that girl had for dinner!» You know you’re getting on in age when you come out with things like that! And my, the youth of today are persistent! A 21-year-old tried it on with me at least three times. His attempts were as follows: «But you don’t look older than 22 or 23!» «Age is but a number…» and the lesser known tactic of: «Come over here and let me kiss you for five, maybe 10 seconds, so you can see what you’re missing…» I felt like an ageing goalie trying not to let him volley one in. I slapped back his advances with: «Do you know what age I am?» «I have a crush on someone else.» «I’m just here to dance!» And this friend is the BEST fun to go dancing with. If I tell you that randomers approach her for ecstasy, you’ll get the picture. Did she get her dance and kiss on? Well, one out of two ain’t bad.

Right I have never been in the place for a gig but have had many a great lunch there. The prices are really good and the manager Paul is attentive without being over bearing. I would recommend it to those who maybe waiting for the bus as the bus station is across the road. Steak sambo and chips for around € 7.50 which is good for the food you get. I would say pop in and try it for yourself!

Good Bits is basically Radio City with a new name! It’s a host to all kinds of parties and alternative music. It’s a pretty good venue to see a gig as it’s quite small and intimate. It’s also the nearest club to the O2 so groups like the prodigy had their official gig after party here. Not a bad deal to be € 12 in to see a gig, or if you’re going for a party for a chance to hang out with some musicians that you may or may not idolise!
