The Farm

My husband and I stopped in after a long day of bus touring the area. I am gluten free (celiac) and we searched for a local gf establishment and gave the Farm a try. It did not disappoint! Portions were large and made the price worth wild to us! There were many gluten free options available, I was able to try the Irish beef shepherds pie with sweet potato (my husbands dinner) and I had the burger on gluten free bread. Both were wonderful! Wish they had US locations!

Top quality food, nice atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely one to visit again, and a definite recommendation

As a rule, I don’t care much either way about table service in a restaurant because I see it as ancillary to the entire point of the establishment: the food. Someone took our order, someone delivered food and someone gave us our bill. Great, no complaints there.
My complaint is that the food was bad compared to the price. We spent € 60 on a tasteless beef burger, average fries, and bland salad. My partner and I shared a € 15 starter whose content amounted to two slices of bread, a piece of cheese, a piece of ham, and three relishes.
I had the beef burger as my main course. Irish restaurants have a habit of disguising mediocre patties. They cover up bad beef with mounds of cheese, slabs of rashers, and bowls full of salad. To me, it’s as if Ireland is a few steps further removed from the Platonic ideal of a burger than the rest of the western world. We don’t envision the perfect patty, one which drips with herbs and rare spices. No, we look around, see and copy.
The burger I had is one of the worst examples of this.
I want a mélange of tastes when I bite into a burger. Now, the hint of sauce, then hark!, the crunch of delicious salad. What The Farm served me is a slapped-​together stack too big to fit into human mouth. When you force me to nibble around the sides of an industrial meal experience, the last thing I want is asymmetric globs of cheese. But surprise! That’s just what I had to overcome. As much as I love cheese on a burger, I don’t want to endure a mouthful of cheddar while I work my way toward the better parts.
Back to the patty itself: it is tautological to say this, but the burger tasted like a burger. First, imagine all the burgers you have eaten in your life, some good, some bad. Now average their tastes and you come pretty close to what I ate last night. It didn’t stand out. There was nothing to make me say ‘this is exceptional!’ This patty was not a pleasant surprise to me, and that’s bad when it cost me € 20.
Everyone gives out about McDonald’s. They say McDonald’s food is crap food. McDonald’s is cheap and unhealthy. McDonald’s is a leading enabler of obesity in the Western world. But guess what? The McDonald’s corporate empire’s has a customer base that numbers in the billions, spread across six continents. They listen and respond to feedback, and use this to produce a burger that you will eat twice. You can walk into almost any McDonalds on Earth (ware ye of regional menus) and get the same burger. And more important than that: you’ll like it. You will want another and inevitably come back for more, wherever you are in the world, because you know you will get it.
Something is wrong with your menu when a McDonald’s offers a more satisfactory dining experience.
My partner and I feel ripped-​off, gypped, fleeced, and bamboozled. Any other synonym you care to use is just another lace curtain hung on the airy window of our discontent: the food is bad.

Had an outstanding meal here in May, not crowded and they could book my party of three right in. Lamb was slow cooked to perfection, and I have never had better tasting carrots as a side. Farm to table, with everything wonderfully fresh. Waitstaff was friendly and did not intrude on our conversation. Brilliant idea to put a wireless buzzer on each table for summoning the waitstaff. I will be back when in Dublin

Food was decent service was as well. I would go back if I was a local. Wife had chicken special and I had fish pie which was excellent enough said.

I have eaten at Farm restaurant twice. Previously, I had dinner and I was very impressed with both the concept of the restaurant and the quality of my meal. The Farm restaurants source locally as much as possible. I appreciate their efforts to use Irish organic free-​range meats, vegetables and other ingredients. The restaurant also offers vegetarian and gluten-​free options. I tried lunch on this visit. I ordered the Spanish omelette with potatoes, sun-​dried tomatoes, basil, and fresh arugula which was honestly ho-​hum and I couldn’t finish eating. Also, I was not a big fan of the service call bell. It seemed like no one checked on the table unless they were called. I was disappointed because I had a fabulous experience with friends on my previous visit and I was looking forward to another great meal. There is a second location at 133 Upper Leeson Street D4. Make reservations because the line for dinner can be long.

I have been here twice. The first time I put it down to ‘staff not having a great day’ as we all do at work some days. But the second time it was the same. Staff don’t smile or don’t come across friendly. We had a voucher, but when we sat down we were told we had to order off 2 separate menus which were way more expensive and we couldn’t order off their early bird menu even tho we had 1 ½ hours left. So we had to pay more at the end with the menus we had to pick off.
Their food is flawless. We both had salmon. We couldn’t fault it. Dessert was nice and their starters, chicken wings were delicious. Thats what the 2 stars are for.
Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

All fresh farm food, everything is prepared beautifully and artfully. Great atmosphere with wonderful service, never rushed for you to leave. Able to enjoy your food, time, and company. Highly recommended for a wonderful organic or freshly farmed meal. Comfortable seating. Try the house wine it’s wonderful! Reservations are helpful but not always necessary. Easy to find from Grafton Street

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. The atmosphere is very cute and cozy. The food was great. I had the 3-​course selection and my husband ordered off the à la carte menu. As a vegetarian they had a great selection! The wine list is limited, but a couple of good white/​red selections.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed that we had a «call button» on our table so that we could get service whenever we needed it. The owner came to our table as well to make sure we were happy with our meals.
Overall a great experience with fresh food from local farms! Highly recommend.

One of my closest friends has been raving about the food here for ages so I finally got to try it yesterday.
A simple ‘Sunday dinner’ type of menu presented itself which usually leaves me stone cold but the good people behind The Farm use only locally sourced, organic produce which made all the difference.
I had the fish pie which came with a side salad and some organic Chardonnay/​Grenache blend, both were fantastic. I struggled to finish the pie but it was so good, I didn’t want to leave anything on my plate.
My friends had the burger with chips and cottage pie with a side of greens. Everything was excellent, everything was devoured.
The a la carte menu is a bit pricey but trust me, it is well worth paying 20Euro for cottage pie. Alternatively, they have an early bird menu with 2 courses for 23Euro as well as a set 3 course menu for 35Euro.
The only let down that night was the service. Our waiter wasn’t friendly at all but luckily towards the end of the meal we got served by someone else who was smiling and made us feel welcome.

Have been here many times and it never disappoints. The food is always top notch and feels like you’re eating healthy! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The Farm on Dawson street is in a very central location in Dublin so useful for food before a night out.

Yum, Yum, Yum!
I will definitely return when back in town. The food here is delicious. We came for an early lunch and loved every bite. I had a burger and my partner had the Sausage special. They also have nice lunch specials on the menu daily. Each bite was an adventure. Great for a casual meal. Organic and farm to table. Just Awesome! I would say the service is slow. They have a bell you can hit but it takes the waiter awhile to come after you ring them. Everyone was kind and accommodating. Like I said before: nom, nom, nom. Yum yum yum! Delicious!

You’ll buy The Farm!
I am a notoriously picky eater & on a recent visit to Ireland & the UK, I knew I might be in for trouble, with such a heavy focus on fish & game & parts of animals I’d much rather see running away from me at a great distance than on my plate. But one cannot eat every meal at the Hard Rock Café, regretfully, so you must persevere.
Fortunately, The Farm is something special. Not only is the food locally sourced (which matters to many), organic in many cases (which matters to many more), but its presentation is pleasing to both the eye & your waiting gullet.
I started with the Irish chicken wings, which were little different from American wings, save for the more sesame taste to the sauce. I then had the cottage pie, which is their divine take on shepherd’s pie & some random vegetables. For dessert, I had The Farm Surprise, which I’ll keep to myself, which while it isn’t quite on the level of spoiling you on the new Star Wars movie, is still a disservice to you as a diner.
Suffice it to say however, if you fancy a very good meal in the heart of the Trinity College section of Dublin for a price that will not lighten your wallet too much, The Farm is certainly worthy of consideration.

Great variety of foods available — only thing to complain about is that the ambience somehow did not do it for us.
Would recommend for a casual meal.

They have a wonderful early bird special, but I was late. I still only paid 35 Euros for a three course delicious farm-​to-​table meal! Not too shabby! You can also order a la carte which I would do next time for more choices. I ate alone, and you do not feel weird eating here alone in case you are a solo traveler.
I started with the tomato basil soup and freshly made bread. Yummy in my tummy!
Then I had the Baked Fillet of Cod which was decent, but I wish they put the sauce on the fish to give it more flavor rather than a little on the side. There was not too much flavor to the fish alone. The sauce was delicious. I did not fancy the crunchy potato straws as a side to that. The fish was cooked well, it just really needed more of the sauce to enhance the flavor.
For the final dish, I had the Farm Surprise (Organic strawberry/​chocolate/​vanilla Ice-​cream in layers, fresh fruit, homemade meringue, Chantilly cream, nuts and blueberry coulis) which was the BEST part of the meal. Great way to end off the night.
I will return and hopefully boost it up to 5 stars!

This review relates to the Leeson St branch! There doesn’t appear to be a page for it but I understand the menu is the same. Looking at the pics it appears to be. The staff are lovely. Love the little bell to summon them to your table. The menu choice was ok. We had the set menu. Chicken wings to start for me. As chicken wings go they were average enough! I enjoyed them, the dip seemed a bit processed, but that’s doubtful given their ethos. My other half had the Seabass starter & thought it was fab. I had a half bottle of white. Found the prices for the glass choices a bit too steep. € 9 for a glass!
The beef main course with the € 8 supplement was my let down. Whilst the meat was so tender, I didn’t enjoy the flavour. I think it was encrusted with hazelnuts. It was the croquette with cabbage that probably soured my taste buds, that with the accompanying courgette. In saying all this, I admit that my husband loved his!
Finally the sticky toffee pud, which was nice as puds go but lacked the distinct sticky toffee pud rich flavour. And once again my husband devoured his rhubarb crumble & loved it too!
Two differing opinions on the food! I probably wouldn’t return, he feels he would!

Great food, service, and atmosphere!
I feel like I don’t have as much to write about when I’m not complaining, but I’ll try my best to fluff out the good details! I was actually a little skeptical about dinner here — one of the other people in our party picked it out. They wouldn’t seat us for about an hour because we were a party of 9 and I’ve found that many restaurants in Dublin find this daunting. There’s a coffee shop two doors down, so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience.
Service was great — everyone was prompt and attentive. Our waitress was friendly and approachable. The food was excellent — I ordered the cottage pie, and it was perfect! A friend ordered some kind of duck, a bite of which I tried, and that was also delicious. I can say with confidence that this was the best meal I ate during my stay in Ireland.
I can really only think of one con: everyone at our table was really feeling the heat. It was early evening in September, but in the restaurant it was a sauna. We mentioned it to the staff, but they insisted that the heating was off and looked at us helplessly.
Other than getting a bit too hot and bothered, I loved it!

Wonderful little place on Dawson. We found the Tower Records a few doors down and was surprised to see the store still existed and they were selling helpings. After wandering through the store we came and saw this restaurant and decided to have lunch. Forget that it is advertised as organic, the food is good fresh and service very nice. With 75 all the reviews that are positive I don’t need to say much more.

The most solid 4 stars you will find. The food was so good in the wholesome filling Irish kind of way. But not too filling that you feel stuffed.
Lots of great Irish offerings from cottage pie to Irish salmon to double cooked pork to fish pie. I tried the latter, and it was really nice. Had a very fresh salad on the side.
You really feel like everything in here is farm fresh and the service is great. Lots of gluten free options too including brown bread.
No 5 stars here as the dishes are relatively simple.

I came here for dinner once and lunch recently, and I find they have some interesting stuff on their menu. They serve organic free-​range food, and most of the things on their menu is on the healthy side, as well as being really tasty! I had the egg white omelette which came with a nice quinoa salad, which I loved. I’ve always wanted to try an egg white omelette and never knew it could taste so good! I’d want to try the Asian salad next time which you can have it with either chicken or salmon, or the polenta cakes which don’t see often on menus in Dublin.
The atmosphere is pretty classy; white cloth and waiter service with a candle, dimly lit but still good to come for lunch. It’s not a place to come on your own for a lunch break though. The prices are tad bit on the higher end, ranging from 13 – 20 euro on the lunch menu and 20 for dinner.
The service is really good, and they have a little button you can click to call the waiter which I found pretty handy!
Overall, great food, nice atmosphere and good service.
