Quality and quantity to be found here. A tremendous selection of wines and possibly the best selection of champagne available in Dublin. Extremely helpful staff who will make recommendations and push you outside your comfort zone.
They also have a warehouse in KCR Industrial Park open Monday to Friday. Watch out for their warehouse sale where you can secure some bargains.

This place has a great selection of wines and very knowledgeable people behind the counter — all you can ask for in a wine store really!
I do wish they had a bigger selection of Ports and Portuguese wines, but you can’t have it all.
The plus side: someone I know went there and mentioned Unilocal and they love us! That alone would be worth the 4 stars ;)

Excellent shop! I have had many people recommend this place to me, and I will be continuing that tradition. A great selection, floor to ceiling packed with a great variety of wines. I’m always on the look out for a good Portuguese wine (and Port wine) section and this place clearly has a few carefully selected gems, was very happy with what I found there. We’ve been very happy with the Douro wines we’ve picked up here, as well as some excellent LBV and Tawny Ports, from the better but more obscure vineyards, which is always refreshing.
The staff are very friendly and so helpful, they really know their stuff and the best part about it is there’s nothing pretentious about this place at all! Just good wine and good people, you can’t ask for more!

Love this place, as I can peruse what I want online, pay by credit card online, and pick it up in-​store whenever I want!!! So handy!!! Little expensive but a great wine range to choose from!

Probably my favourite shop in Dublin. At first I was a little worried that I was on first name terms with the staff in a wine shop (do I drop in too much?), but really that says more about how friendly all the team in The Corkscrew are. Whatever you’re looking for they seem to have the answer (something to go with fondue — Chris is our fondue expert!).
When we were organising our wedding there was only one place that we considered for the wine — and they didn’t disappoint. From the initial chat with Chris to see what our budget was and what type of wine we were interested in, to the personal tasting with Colm and the delivery to the venue everything was geared towards getting us exactly what we wanted. We even sent a couple of friends here when their wedding wine plans fell through.
As a bonus, ordering from their website is really easy too and their wine fairs are a fantastic way to experience new wines (and all for charity too).
A shop that puts a smile on my face every time I walk in — a very rare breed!

My new favourite wine shop. We had a tasting in work run by Chris, and everything I tried was fantastic. When I went in for a bottle of champagne (a gift sadly), I was given a walk through of everything they had within my price range, complete with anecdotes about the different producers and comparisons on taste, style and reputation.
It’s a very welcoming place (not always that common in wine shops) and everyone in there knows their stuff. They also have a handy colour code system for prices (wines under € 15, wines under € 30, wines under € 50), so you know what wines you can pick out on a budget.

The Corkscrew is my favorite wine shop in Dublin! It offers an extenstive range of wines — even from California (albeit a bit pricier compared to the days when I’d cruise Napa/​Sonoma or the Central Coast to pick up a few bottles…)
The staff, Chris and Colm, really know their stuff! So, go on in and don’t be put off by some of the pricier bottles. If you want higher end, you’ll find it. But, if you simply want to pick up a bottle of red for a casual night at home, say so, and they’ll direct you. I did just that and scored a fabulous Portuguese wine which was on sale for only ten euro.
They’ll talk it up if you want to get more info on certain countries, regions/​appelations, grapes/​varietels, and makers/​labels or they’ll just simply give you some direction if you ask for it.
So, we don’t live in France, Italy, or Napa, California, BUT, hey, the wine glass IS half full my peeps: We Have The Corkscrew!
A glass of Pinot Noir please, actually, make that a bottle!

Brilliant little wine shop with staff who REALLY know their stuff.
There is a huge range of wines but it is not somewhere you are going top go to get a 5 euro bottle of plonk.

Excellently stocked wine shop and very good staff. Plain and simple, every recommendation they have ever made has always been a 100% success. I’m not a huge drinker, and would only really buy about 10 – 12 bottles a year, however they have introduced me to the most amazing port and wonderful Riesling all at great prices. A fantastically well run independent business with a team of experts, could you ask for more?

All I can say is wow. Great selection good prices and they are so friendly. I am a wine fan and these guys have an excellent selection of wine :-))) I better be careful when I am in the area as I am likely to spend way too much :-)

This a useful little find in the Grafton street area for wine, now that the Berry Bros and Rudd retail business is closed.

I am no expert on wine, but I know the types I like. So I usually ask the staff for help when I am in a wine shop, telling them what my budget is. Here they were very helpful and sorted me with exactly what I wanted.

I was on a quest for Marsala (a type of wine I needed to make a white chocolate tiramisu for a dinner party later), and after trying out the usual places — Dunnes, various off-​liscenses; Fallon & Byrne — no luck whatsoever. As I wallowed in a sense of my own fruitlessness, the wine merchant in Fallon & Byrne suggested I go to The Corkscrew — if they didn’t have it, nobody did.
To my fortune, it was there! The lovely fellow there also told me about the qualities of Marsala to boot, leaving me not only triumphant and not too light of pocket, but better informed as well. Good job, Corkscrew, and thanks.

After OddBins closed and left a wine-​bottle shaped void in my life, I started my search for a new Wine Merchant. I popped in The Corkscrew for a White Wine. I don’t know much about wine, but I do know that I like Rieslings… German ones. I approached the counter and asked for a recommendation and five minutes later, I left with a beautifully balanced sweet Mönchhof Riesling for € 16.
Simple.
Recommended for anyone who drinks wine.

«Wine Merchants» I’m guessing the mental images those words conjure are of dusty cellars, pretentious language, maybe even the odd fake French accent. None of those to be found in the Corkscrew.
I was searching for a specific bottle to be given as a gift, and was pointed in the direction of this fantastic store. They didn’t have what I was looking for, but were able to give me the name of a couple of places that did have it. And they dropped some science about how wine suppliers do their thing.
Sometimes you can only tell how great a store is by how they treat their non-​customers. I wasn’t able to get anything in the Corkscrew today, but I’ll definitely be back in the future.

Jo’s got a bead on the best place for wine on the city’s South Side. I’ve always enjoyed chatting stock with the guys at Corkscrew while looking for that perfect Saturday night bottle. Australian reds are my thing right now and on my visit I got great pointers on a tasty Shiraz that was in budget and ideal for sipping.
It’s great to see the traffic hasn’t slowed here –and now that the excellent wine cellar on Harry St (Berry Bros was it?) shut up shop, there’s plenty of room, and thirsty Dubs, ready to make Corkscrew a first stop for great wines.

It’s official — I have found the source of all my future wine-​related purchases. The Corkscrew is the BEST wine stockist I have ventured into thus far in my Dublin meanderings.
Why, you ask? Well, firstly because they have the most incredible range of wine from all over the world. They even stock my favourite label from Western Australia, Vasse Felix, which I’ve not found ANYWHERE else in Ireland.
Secondly, their staff are wonderful. They are not the haughty, pretentious types you might expect to find in such an establishment. Oh no, they take the time to talk to every customer who enters the store, ask about their wine preferences, suggest future purchases for the expansion of the customer’s palate, and discuss wines previously purchased and liked/​disliked.
Chris, a lovely guy from the UK, spoke to me while I was in store, and while I’m by no means a wine connoisseur, or a bulk-​buyer, he still took the time out to find out about the kind of vino I like to drink. From there he formed a kind of ‘career trajectory’ for my wine tastes, based on what I drink now and what I should be trying. I found him incredibly helpful and not at all dismissive of my ‘bargain bin’ level of wine knowledge.
While I was in the store I heard the other sales assistant speaking to a woman who’d had a less than amicable experience with her last purchase. They discussed the reasons for her not enjoying that particular bottle (these things happen, everyone has different tastes), and he made suggestions on wines that might provide her with an experience more to her liking. The fact that she came back to the store and trusted these guys to advise her on her next purchase really says something about the level of service provided here.
So you see, at The Corkscrew, wine, as life, is about the journey, not the destination, it’s about branching out and trying something new and it’s not about sticking to the tried and true (although, in fairness to these guys, they have tried nearly every bottle in store).
If you want a wine merchant who will know you by name, and who in less than 10 minutes will be able to diagnose your particular drinking condition and provide you with the remedy, make The Corkscrew your off-​licence of choice.
