This place is making food for people who like junk, and there seems to be a lot of those people.

Man what a great find… We rolled in on a brisk, gray day after walking around half of dublin. The noodles hit the spot big time. The whole family inhaled a pot each… staff super friendly. Price is reasonable… Excellent if your looking for something quick cheap and tasty…

I will preface this review by saying that we were a pint or two in and hungry when we came across Stir Crazy, but found it the perfect meal for an evening meal when you’re not looking to spend € 20 per person. Honestly, we stopped here as we were leaving our hotel, more on impulse than anything else, but we’re definitely are glad that we did. We didn’t catch the names of the two employees at the time, but both were very friendly, informative and made the experience very fun and totally worth it. For being a low-key, no frills place, it was delicious with very generous portions for the reasonable prices. The food was brought to us quickly and the two dishes filled the three of us up pretty well(although fair warning, if you are truly hungry you probably want your own order as you may find yourself needing to keep the entire thing to constitute what we americans are used to as a full meal). If we hadn’t left Dublin the following day we probably would have been back. If you are looking for an affordable, filling meal beyond the typical fish and chips you’ll find everywhere, come check out Stir Crazy, you won’t regret it.

Oh Stir Crazy you deceiving dog. If ever the phrase ‘never judge a book by it’s cover’ was going out of fashion, Stir Crazy is there to give it a whole new lease of life. I’ll be honest, I might never have come here if it wasn’t for the praises from a friend that this place was worth checking out. And worth checking out it is, multiple times if you will as it’s seriously light on the purse-strings. First off, the staff are excellent, they’re down to earth, immediately make you feel welcome & they’ll even let you try the sauces before you pick them. The menu is like those typical build-it-yourself menus that have been done to death in Dublin in the burrito scene. You pick your type of noodle then your type of meat/veg & then your sauce. Simples. I actually haven’t seen this done for an asian place yet and it works niiiiiiicely, ensuring you’re getting exactly the type of asian cuisine to suit your pallet. Fancy some peanuts with your Singapore tofu udon noodles? No problemo, this menu has you covered. I really wish more places had this smart take on menus(I’m looking at you Neon) because I really like putting my own(amazing) twist on dishes. Yes, pineapple DOES work well in a green thai curry, don’t argue. And is this food good? Do you customise this awesome concoction of oriental style only to be disappointed? No. Not even a bit. It’s great, it’s amazing. It’s FRESH. It feels GOOD for you, like you’re not eating a typical chinese, you’re eating something a lot healthier than that. And that’s high praise for Asian food considering it’s reputation health-wise has been bashed in unashamedly from decades of dodgy chineses. Price wise you’re talking € 5 – 7 which is delightful considering quantity & quality. The one bad thing is that the décor is little too chip-shop, hence my initial reservations but when everything else works this well, you don’t mind too much. This place is near flawless and another addition to the food mecca that Dame St. has become.

I had bookmarked this place due to the wonderful reviews about the food and price, so while I was in the area, I thought I’d pop in and give Stir Crazy a try. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with the friendliest smile by the man behind the counter. The way it works is you start off with a base price(€ 4.90) with your choice of noodles(udon, egg, vermicelli, wheat, or rice) or rice(jasmine or whole grain). Then you add on your protein and veggies from there, which range from € 1 – 2 per item depending on what you get. Finally, you choose your sauce(s) and it’s great because they have nine different ones to choose from! They also have daily specials(€ 4.90) and suggestions for you to choose from if you’re too overwhelmed by the number of combinations you can make! I ordered the egg noodles with chicken topped with green curry and pad thai sauce, since I like ‘em spicy! I grabbed it to go, but I would suggest you eat it there because by the time I got home, my noodles were a little soggy. I’m not sure if travel time was at fault, so. I guess I gotta come back and give this place another try! …but I’m not complaining. TIP: They have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available!

Been coming here for ages and always enjoy it. The thai green curry with Prawns and udon noodles is my usual. Seriously tasty! Also bottled beer for 3.50! Great for a pre pub stop in! The staff are super friendly to boot!

Few evenings ago we went to Stir Crazy to grab a fast meal before hitting the city. We decided to do so as we saw the prices few days before that when we were passing by and it seemed cool. The place is small but has amazing cute seating part in the back. The staff was extremely friendly and kind and even offered us to taste the sauces we wanted with our meal. They were also helping us decide on what to add to our meal. We also go for wholemeal variations but there is really plenty of choice. For the two of us the price was 14 € because we added stuff like pineapple, broccoli etc. Prices go from 4.90 € which is super cheap, especially considering the fact that you get a really tasty and filling meal. Going to return there for sure!

Studying abroad in dublin is not cheap. The exchange rate and the expensive prices for food and drink have definitely taken their toll on my wallet. However, stir crazy’s prices and quality are as good as it gets. Fresh ingredients and noodles made to order. The lunch special gets you a full meal for 4.90 euro. You can’t beat it! Love this place.

Where do I start? A friend of mine told me about this place and was expecting it to be a basic stir fry type of place… But wow was I wrong, I trust my friends opinion on a place to have a chew and a chat and the atmosphere is brillaint inside the staff are wonderful and the owner is a absolute gentleman and is very helpful with you if your new to the café, he will let you try the sauces that can be used in your Stir Crazy and that’s a nice side of hospitality you rarely see these days. Nice to see this place is becoming very popular with everybody! It’s a pity this place hasn’t got more notice earlier in its life, but if you like spicy I would recommend the Double Green Thai & Double Chicken &2 Eggs it’s WONDERFUL! Whenever I’m in town I always pop in to eat or grab a takeaway, Don’t be afraid the guys inside don’t bite, they are top class

I actually tried to review this place the first time I visited, but couldn’t remember the name(alcohol was definitely playing a part). But this place is amazing for food. Firstly when you walk in, you think ok normal take away place, but they actually have really great seating in the back. The server is super friendly and a great craic to have a chat with. You then get this massive, delicious asian meal — go for the 4.90 € special — it changes daily and is so yum! Plus you can grab a bottle of beer for 3.50 € — cheap, tasty, filling dinner, in centre of town… fast, but you don’t have to walk down the street eating it. Definitely will be back here again! nomnomnom

Before a night tour in dublin came here for some fast bites. I enjoyed the whole wheat noodles with chicken and vegetables and egg. It was prepared fast, and topped with a zesty teryaki sauce. Its a bit of a hole in the wall, with a not a ton of seats but I think it gives this place a distinct charm. The guy in the front was patient and gave some good ordering suggestions, free wi-fi doesnt hurt either :).

20 minutes ago I bought a whole wheat noodle to go with chicken and satay sauce. It is now in the bin. Not disgusting but just very tasteless and bad quality chicken. It was like sandwich slices. Urgh. Nice staff. But alas nice staff does not ensure a tasty lunch. I will not be back.

We were looking for a quick bite on our way to a tour. Ordering is a 3 step process, noodles, meat, and sauce. The service was swift and my meal was quality. I got the chicken w whole wheat noodles and pad Thai sauce. I’d be a regular if I lived in Dublin.

This is one of the best(if not the best) noodles place of Dublin. Everything is fresh, friendly staff and reasonable prices! I recommend!

This is a regular haunt of mine. I love the simplicity of the order options: choose noodles, choose main ingredient, then your sauce. Depending on what ingredients you choose, the price can rise and fall, but I usually go for the special, which is approximately 4.90. You do get a large portion for your hard earned money, and the seating is nice and cosy. Would recommend it to anyone looking for something a little naughty, but nice. Also free newspapers and magazines to peruse, and that’s always a bonus in my books!

Came here with a RateMyArea deal and the staff were super nice and helpful! It was the night of the Trinity Ball and he had a lot of funny stories. I got Whole Wheat Noodles with 3 veg(Broccoli, Mushrooms, and Bamboo Shoots) – and they threw in bell peppers for free – with Thai Green Curry Sauce. It seemed like they put in a lot of sauce but I could not really taste it. My friend got Egg Noodles with Pork and Sweet Chili Sauce and loved it. Nice spring onions on top and you can add soy sauce and chili flakes. Nice containers that have a circular bottom, but I feel like they should have plates/bowls for people who want to eat in.

Lovely place, actually sought it out yesterday as once again I was craving noodles. This is the ‘make your own dish’ type of noodle bar where you choose type of noodles(udon, wholewheat, egg noodles, rice noodles etc), add a meat: chicken, prawn, tofu, and then a sauce to fry it in(Black Bean, Teriyaki, Sweet chilli etc) It was so hard to decide, but eventually I went for chicken, with egg noodles in a peanut satay sauce. Yummy! Not as enjoyable as the Old Town Noodle box I had with cashews and chicken and slightly more dear at € 6.70(price you pay for choice) but owner/manager was lovely and it is on Dame Street(previously Gruel) so I guess you pay for location/accessibility too. There are small seats/benches as well and plenty of soy sauce and chilli flakes to add on top for free. Standard noodles are priced at € 4.50 a box(they claim to come with egg and fresh veg included for that price, but the veg is just some onions, some spring onion and the odd bamboo shoot) and then meats are around € 1.80-€ 2 and you can add vegetables/extras like button mushrooms, pineapple etc for € 1 each. The sauce is free. So extras cost, and it’s great to mix n match. I think my peanut sauce made my noodles soggy and clumped them together. But I’ll blame it on my poor choice and not the place. Will definitely be back to try the other options.

After a session of The Spanish Inquisition aka the gym, I could eat people so I settled for noodles. It’s pretty difficult to find healthy lunch options in the city that are not in sandwich form, I lucked out here. Very simple three step menu where you: 1. Pick your noodle type 2. Veg/Meat 3. Sauce I got the whole wheat egg noodles with bamboo shoots, brocolli in a paad Thai sauce which came to € 7.40. I found it really tasty and satisfying, only complaint was that the brocolli looked very sad and not that fresh to my eyes. Really lovely lunch alternative which did feel healthy. They have options for gluten intolerant folks too. Friendly staff. Cash only. Small instead so perfect with a quick bite, I got mine to go.
