This reminds me of Toysrus in U.S.(I’m not sure if there are Toysrus in Ireland). The layout is just like Toysrus, looks like a warehouse and easy to walk around and easy to find toys. I’ve noticed most Toys are imported from US and they are more expensive than ones in US, but I’m not sure if these prices aren’t bad if you compare prices between other toy stores in Ireland.

This is one of the best Smyths in the country. It is pretty massive with two floors and they usually have a good selection in stock. I do much of my Christmas shopping here for the children and they usually have everything I need. You also can’t beat the location — right up from the Jervis LUAS stop.

When I don’t know what I’ll buy my nephew I go to Smyths and I find something. Yes its a bit of a warehouse and I really have no idea why it looks like they alphabetised by they haven’t… that just makes it more confusing. Essentially because there’s so much stuff there you have to accept that you’ll go for a wander to find the thing you need. Currently lego is right by the door, then its boys stuff, girls stuff, baby stuff and bigger things like bikes down the end(also computer games down the end if you want to by a treat for yourself while you’re there!). On my latest visit I felt a bit bewildered on entering, but I still came out with the right toys that were needed… and also a jigsw for me that it could be argued that I did not need. Anyway I’m not sure if its the lack of little people that I need to buy toys for but I usually find myself pleasantly surprised with the prices at smyths. As a special bonus this particular store opens really late at Christmas — until 11pm I think, so if you need to buy toys but can’t cope with children around its a godsend!

I have only been here once but when you enter it looks like a toy store that has it all. This is however not the case. I wanted something as simple as face-painting and they did not have it. I must admit I did not have the best experience here. The service was less than desirable and it was very confusing. There were no labels that tells you what you can find in the huge aisles that are in there. I went in there confused about where to go to find face-painting so I asked the first employee I saw, he seemed a bit distracted so just said«oh yeah, down there somewhere», so I went down the aisle and had a look. I did not find anything, just crayons. I then looked for the next employee and explained that I was told that the face-painting would be in this aisle but that I had not found any. The employee was just as confused and distracted as the first one and just said«yes they are by the crayons», I then said that I had looked there for a while and I could see any there, if they might be out”. At this point if you are a bit costumer friendly you would follow me to the location of the face-painting and point them out to me. This was not the case. I just got the reply«they should be there». I looked all over and I had my boyfriend help me. As non of us found them we decided to leave and they lost a costumer. This is a great example on how important costumer service is. I do not mind chain stores or big departments as long as there is a decent service. This is not the case for Smyths.

Woohoo, there’s no better way to feel like a kid again than walking into Smyth’s toy store. Yes, it’s probably very busy just before christmas but it’s not too bad for the rest of the year. Smyth’s is basically floor to ceiling toys and it’s great to just walk around and have a look at all the new toys– Lego and Barbies and Transformers and toy trucks. If it is colourful and made of plastic you will probably find it here. Personally I think they lack more traditional, non-plastic toys– such as jigsaws– but that’s just me. It’s a great shop if you’re looking for presents for a little person.

Smyths Toystore on Jervis Street is a warehouse of a toyshop filled with Barbies, Action Men, board games, Lego, toy cars and trucks, collectible figurines, paddling pools, soft toys and teddy bears, dolls houses, baby doll accessories, and every other plastic gadget and trinket that you could possibly imagine, to suit all ages from tots to teens. It is the number one shop for parents in the run up to Christmas. Anything featured on the Late Late Toyshow can usually be found here. They also have an expanding computer games section, that stocks every popular game for all the popular consoles and PCs. There’s a useful facility on their website whereby you can check the stock in store before you go to shop, so there will never be a wasted trip.

Oh what a wonderful thing… toys… toys… toys and lots of em… I love toys. they are so much fun. its a pity i am about 18 years too old to use them without being shunned. but i dont care, toys are great. This place sells them if you havn’t already worked that out. the only thing is, even though there is a huge selection the shop itself seems a little run down… a bit warehousey… a bit much. a lot of the time you will find that toy your looking for but you will need to dig into the back ot find one that isnt broken or out of battery. Nice place though all the same and it has everything you would need.

As a youth in the west of Ireland, Smyths was my El Dorado. Smyths toy stores were dotted around the country.(From a kid’s perspective) the buildings were towering goliaths filled from floor to ceiling with toys, books, games and bikes. I thought every adult had to be an idiot for not wanting to work here. I now cannot think of a worse place to work. Screaming toddlers runing around in danger of scraping knees and bumping foreheads while mothers argue with their mothers about who’s buying their little precious a Ben 10 wristwatch. That being said, Smyths is still one of the best toy shops in the country. They have an enormous amount of stock and their customer service is great. Not only that, they also have a ‘software zone’ which is pretty good for computer games and consoles. I do sometimes go into the Smyths back home for a bit of a nostalgic time wasting. Just not at Christmas. NEVER at Christmas.

Smiths is the biggest toy store in Dublin City, and I would argue here that its the best. With absolutely the biggest range of stock and prices there really is something for everybody in every price range. As a big store there is obviously alot of staff on the floor, and to their credit they are helpful but not pushy or intrusive. The store is very well laid out and organised, my one complaint is the shop is so big it can feel quite overwhelming and the lighting very uncomfortable. There is a great selection of video games aswell at pretty good prices(its also probably a good place to sell your games), but in my experience the staff aren’t completely clued in in this section.
