As a Drumcondra local its hard to not look at Ryans and compare it with Donohues that used to be beside it. Donohues was a family run business and I always found the family pleasant and I was sad to hear it closed after they couple retired. So I was optimistic when I heard another hardware was opening in the locality. But I found the at least one of the men that run it very abrupt and not interested in conversation even when it’s about the products sold in the shop. I felt cut off when discussing how slugs can give dogs lungworm and I was told ‘thanks goodbye’ mid way through my one-way discussion! The shop however looks nice from the outside and they do have some deals and a nice little paint supply area. Just don’t expect them to be happy to see you.

As three stars say — OK shop. Great selection on screws, that’s for sure :) When I was in, was quite busy. Probably a good sign, yeah? I parked somewhere on the sidewalk on Richmond street. Street parking available on Drumcondra road.
