You are sitting at work trying to do your job, you check the time and a few hours to go but all my body and mind are asking me: Is there life before coffee? And the first answer which pops up is NO life and no energy before coffee but there is life after coffee! So while my body is aching for more energy I grab my money and leave the office. The first place to help me out in those moments is the Roast Bean Coffee Company. Considering the close location to by work they know me by now and I am always welcome with a warm smile and mostly don’t even need to say what I want … Maybe the coffee is not the strongest and best I would need in those moment but the service is very friendly and nice and not to forget the location which keeps me coming back, because the little things matter and make a good local to me… Generally I get a Mocha to go just to add the extra little chocolate flavor to avoid going to the next shop and buy bar. The way they prepare the mocha is perfect nice and sweet and satisfies my energy need and my craving for something sweet too But for the very rare and hot Irish summer day they do a nice iced coffee frappé too.

It’s not the most exceptional of spots and I would not go out of my way to grab the food. It’s tasty but to me pretty pricey. € 4.10 for a toasted sandwich to go and it was not brimming with food. Coffee is meh. Very popular spot with the lunch time work crowd. The outdoor seating is very popular too and as Bridget said, great for the people watching.

I have to agree with Bridget on that the interior of Roasted Bean isn’t particularly inviting if you’re looking for a place where you can just sit and relax for a while over a nice cup of coffee. The coffee is also only ok-ish so it’s not a great choice if you’re picky about your coffee. They make nice pastries though that will make the coffee a bit more bearable. And the soup was pretty nice as well I have to say. And being on Mary Street, it’s practically perfect for when you need a break from shopping on Henry Street.

There’s a lovely atmosphere at Roasted on a warm afternoon in the city. Snag a bagel or a bowl of soup to go with your coffee then take a seat outside. How is it that the best part of a café isn’t inside? Just an hour at one of the outdoor tables is better than all the HDTV sky can offer(almost); since this café is at the corner of Capel and Mary Street, there’s some serious people watching to enjoy. Inside there’s an air of austerity that I don’t mind, really. However the request on the front door for all patrons to wear shoes did make me a little nervous. Truth be told, once I got my front row seat for the Mary Street Entertainment Hours, I hardly noticed how fast my bagel with butter vanished.
