There’s nothing like Rick’s after a night out. Must have’s are the burger, the fried mushrooms and the cheese fries. It’s junk food but it always tastes fresh. The garlic dipping sauce is to die for! It’s almost like garlicky sour cream. They grate the cheese fresh. It get’s pretty packed after the bars close but it’s super slow in the afternoon.

It is 3AM, and if you are in this neighborhood at 3AM it is because you probably have had more than 1 or 2 drinks. We were expecting some pretty horrible food, but we gotten to Dublin late, and we hit the bars pretty hard, and needed some sustenance. We were pretty much blown away with our burgers how solid the meat, and overall construction of the burger. The meat was better than any chain-burger joint, they were still open and the place was getting steady business the entire time we ordered and ate. Even the guy who ordered the chicken tenders was happy with it, it was hot and made to order. If I was in Dublin for any serious amount of time I would think about going back.

How, oh how did I never got a Ricks burger in the 14 years that I have lived in Dublin? What’s wrong with me? This was one damn fine cheese burger, and checking in at only 6 euro. Things got a bit messy though as my burger was drowned in ketchup and mayo. My burger started to fall apart half way through due to all those sauces. But… after a few pints… and not having had any substantial to eat all day, I can tell you this burger was almost like a gift from God!

The thing about ricks is it doesn’t put on any attempt to be something its not. It is a burger joint and that’s it. A lot of fast food places offer burgers, pizza, kebabs, etc and do it poorly. Ricks offers a decent burger at a decent price from a good location for anyone looking for something to eat after or before a few pints

You need to be very drunk to eat here. Luckily, most of the people who eat here are very drunk.

This place easily earns 4 stars because I’m thankful for the workers putting up with my hot mess self. Friend and I were absolutely starving after a few rounds at the pub and we needed food in our tummies to soak up all the alcohol. After venturing around Dublin looking for a McDonalds, which turned out to be a total fail – who knew they close at midnight? Luckily for us, we found something even better and ended up at Rick’s Takeaway. Friend and I both ordered burger combos and the workers were friendly and laughed at me endlessly for crying about them not having diet anything. «Diet Pepsi?» … «No, we’re out» «Pepsi Max?» … «We don’t have that either» «What do you have then!!!» … «7-Up» The burgers was delicious, and I’m damn sure it’s not all due to the alcohol. The patties are meaty, juicy, and so flavorful. Be ready for greasy fingers and remember to pile up on the napkins, you’ll need ‘em! I had the mexican burger, and although it had a little bit of a spicy kick to it, I don’t know what else would make it really«mexican». Chips were decent, and came out piping hot. For around 9 euro for a quick meal, I’m not complaining!

Rick’s is the business really isn’t it. As takeaways go, and late night ones, it’s top of the pile in Dublin. Firstly, the food quality is really good. Those burgers are made of meat. Actual real meat. And they’re not greasy and they’re massive and they’re goddam tasty.(So tasty that they’re equally as good sober or drunk. Win.) Secondly, the service. Those lads are in there dealing with annoying drunk people all night every night(and probably just ordinary annoying people during the day) They always have smiles on their faces, they’re patient and pleasant, and they get that food to you in rapid fire time. If only they opened for breakfast…

If you need to eat something after party and you don’t know where to go, this is the right place! Me and my friend have taken the cheesburger and french fries: very delicious :) They prepare it very fast, so don’t get scared if you see a long queue :)

Used to be my favourite post pub munchy spot. Went there tonight and was surprised when the food arrived so quickly. When I got home it was apparent that efficiency has taken over from quality. My chips were cold. One of them wasn’t even fully cooked and there were less than normal. A friend go a burger which was also cold but had all the normal tastiness you’d expect. A loyal fan disappointed tonight.

I like Rick’s, but its definitely more fast food than anything else. The burgers are lovely here and service is pretty speedy, but the one thing that always gets me are the buns. They do not heat the buns so when you are eating them they always tend to break apart and you end up with a runny mess you can’t really finish.

Now that was a tasty burger! Basically having not eaten for most of the day a midnight trip here was the best idea ever and right on the money! I went for the Hawaiian burger which was packing some serious beef wallop and the chips were pretty tasty — saying that this was after about 7 pints so maybe a return trip would be in order to be able to properly give it a more detailed description. Being a big fan of late night burgers after the pub, this was one of the best I’ve had in a long while! 9 euros meant it didn’t blow a hole in my wallet too

No longer has the title of a special burger in my opinion. Very bland, chips aren’t great ether. There was a day when Ricks had it. Whether that was due to lack of selection back in the day or my taste buds were younger but won’t be back again I’m afraid.

Let’s not mess about here. Ricks is somewhere you go when you’re in town having a few beers. It’s not somewhere you would make your local, or somewhere you would go in to during the day. But by God, does it satisfy your hunger with a good burger! I’ve been to Morocco so I know looks can be deceiving when it comes to choosing a place to eat purely based on how it looks — Ricks is the same. I ordered the cheeseburger meal which was € 8.50 — average enough price. No issues with staff for me. The fellow patrons had more alcohol in their systems than I did, hence the loud and boisterous interior, but I’m ok with that as I know I’ve been way worse! Burger was big and delicious and the chips were good too. It’s nice to look out the windows at this time and people watch — good spot for this actually. Good for fuel to keep the night alive heads, homely burgers like your momma used to make heads, and, I’ve never seen 3 people sit on a single swivel chair before, but I think that’s normal in Ricks heads!

So let me start with the positive about this place, the burger I had was absolutely delicious and pretty reasonably priced being under 10 euro. Also the garlic fries were yummy, the bad in short is that it took me a really long time to get to those fries. I substituted regular fries for cheese fries with garlic and paid an extra € 2 for it although was disappointed to find the cheese didn’t come melted. I asked them to melt it on it and the woman got obviously upset and said they don’t have a microwave. I asked her if she could just set it under the heat lamp for the fries to at least soften it and she agreed. She then did not do so(I could see from where I was sitting) and she brought them back, I apologized and politely asked if she she was unable to melt it if I could just have fries without cheese and she was visibly angry having rolled her eyes at myself and my friend before chucking them in the garbage with a fair amount of force. She continued to glare at us and stare while we ate and it was really uncomfortable. When we went to leave and I returned the trays I asked what her name was to which she responded«why?» before she then just said no, clearly because she knew I was going to complain to the owner or write a review due to her outlandish behavior. All in all, the good was great, but definitely not worth the way you’re treated to get it. I will never be back to this place and I urge others to avoid it, there are plenty of places in Dublin where you can get great food without sacrificing service.

Rick’s Burger harks back to a simpler time when to be called a burger it didn’t need to be harrisa spiced, smothered with marmalade, sandwiched between a brioche roll and impaled with a wooden skewer. Rick’s is a fast food joint that serves tasty classic burgers, it’s simple menu means you won’t be long choosing what to have. The burgers are how I imagine joints in 50’s America, they are super tasty and the meat seems to be of a good quality. A meal(incl chips and drink) comes to € 7 to € 9 and the chips are very good. As far as fast food burger joints go, I’m a fan of this one!

The first time I visited Rick’s was my first night living in Dublin, and there began my exciting love affair. The place doesn’t look like it would do good burgers, and it’s not somewhere I would even dream of going, had I not been introduced by a(very trustworthy) friend. I get the chicken burger with plenty of the sauce(God only knows what’s in it, but it’s VERY good) and fried onions. I used to get the chips too, but I find I’m too full after the burger(they’re huge). A good thing to note is that they don’t have that bread-crumbed chicken ‘fillet’ in their burgers — oh no — these are real chicken fillets, which, in an establishment like Rick’s, came as a pleasant surprise. Delicious

Is the food good? Yes, but there is no dignified way to eat one of their burgers. They’re tasty, but a messy meal! What are the prices like? Pretty good. A little bit more expensive than your average takeaway, but worth it. Good time to go there? Anytime during the day. Late at night all the drunk people crawl out from the woodwork and congregate there clambering at the counter communicating their desire for food via slurred, disjointed sentences that at some point will contain burger.

BEST burger I have had since I moved to Europe(two and a half years ago)… the only rivals to it are in America, so Rick’s title as best burger in Dublin is safe! And for your information, I went stone, cold sober. The staff were friendly and very efficient! And I was impressed with the rapid filling of orders. The chips… amazing! What I actually loved was when there were some chips left under the hot lamp that weren’t quite finished, she tossed them back in to the fryer for a second go… I got those ones and they were golden perfection… the kind that are a bit crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside… seriously… heaven. And the burger was cooked to perfection, it had good flavor, it was juicy, and it was meaty! It was dressed simply with lettuce, tomato, chopped onion(kudos for this), and ketchup and mayo… and that was it… Just as I like it. I don’t even mind the interior… it is a fast food place, if you don’t like it, take your food home! They do take away and they do it well… my meal held up on my half mile walk back to my hotel… in fact it was still piping hot! The three things I do mind, however: 1) I did think it was a bit overpriced… just under € 9 for an original meal. Yes, there was a lot of food, but still it is a burger joint. 2) The size of the drinks… the cup isn’t even big enough to hold a can of soda. 3) The ketchup does not taste like ketchup. I know it isn’t Heinz, but I had to take a double look at the packet because I thought it was brown sauce! Despite those issues, I did love the place and the food!

I went here for the first time time Tuesday night after an epic night out. And what a good call. The burgers are huge and yummy, the chips fried to perfection, and the counter people willing to put up with a very drunk American. The interior left something to be desired, but I am completely willing over look that for one of their gorgeous burgers any time. Really, go. Sober, drunk, falling down drunk, go. Your taste buds will thank you.
