Specialties

Tortas = Gourmet Mexican Sandwich. Pablo’s specialty contains slow-​cooked pulled pork tinga style, he therefore decided to call it the Tinga Torta. Other popular varieties include Chicken Izo (Chicken & chorizo in one sandwich!), Sloppy José (A Mexican take on the sloppy joe) and the Sweet Pepper (a sturdy and tasty vegetarian sandwich). And don’t forget — The El Magnifico!

Pablo prepares the torta fillings daily, including jalapeño mayonnaise, roast, pasilla chicken, chipotle ground beef and pulled pork.

Don’t forget Pablos Paleo Boxes! Steak, chilli & cacao sprinkles over a bed of raw spinach and rocket and feta or roasted chicken and roasted peppers over a bed of raw spinach and rocket and guacamole!

History

Established in 2009.

In Mexican cuisine, the torta is very popular and every region of Mexico has a local twist or favourite.

These sandwiches are a must try, especially if you like mexican food!
I tried the chicken izo 10⁄10
The restaurant is next to panlo picanto which i tried once but didnt find it to be the best burrito place. However these sandwiches at pablo picanto are really good.

Had the Paleo lunch box here yesterday and was majorly disappointed I have to say! Cashew nuts were advertised but failed to make an appearance in the salad which was a soggy mess of luke-​warm black beans, wilted lettuce leaves, guac and a mustard dressing that was too thick and just had no place flavour-​wise with the rest of the ingredients. I had to pick the meat out from this concoction and the rest went in the bin — it was just awful. It pains me to write this as I’ve had one of the tortas from here before and although I found it a little heavy and greasy it was miles better than what I was served yesterday, but after the fiasco of yesterday’s lunch I can’t say I’ll ever be back!

Fun atmosphere and lots of choice of burritos and salsas. They also do quesadillas, tortas (Mexican sandwiches available in the adjoining Pablos Tortas) and beers so there’s something for everyone.
I’m a huge fan because you’re guaranteed to not leave hungry and the fillings are fresh and of good quality.
The burrito portions are generous but you can also get them without rice or in a bowl without the wrap if you want to cut down on the carbs. They also have a paleo box if you want to cut down even further.
The staff are always super friendly and helpful so you always feel welcome when you pop in.
There’s a student special where you can get a drink and a burrito for a discounted price (can’t remember the price exactly.)

Pablo’s has got something great going on down on Clarendon. The burritos blew my mind, but then I tried the tortas… amazing!
I got the pollo izo (chicken and chorizo) torta, and it far exceeded my already high expectations. It came with guac on, which was great that it didn’t cost extra! There was marinated pulled chicken, chorizo, guac, black bean purée, some rocket, and I even added hot sauce! The portion was quite big, and the price was right.
The staff were really nice, and the service was quick. My torta was fresh and filling.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for the tex-​mex fix! I will be back.

Like a Mexican equivalent of a super whopper Spar roll… kinda!!!
A torta for those not in the know is a hearty sandwich filled with the types of toppings you’d normallly find in a taco or burrito, but unlike tacos and burritos, tortas are made with crusty rolls called bollilos. Filling-​wise you can pack it with pretty much anything you like. The one I had in Pablo’s was the Tinga Torta. Slow cooked pork in a kind of tomato sauce, with black bean purée, and my favourite bit of this puzzle, jalapeño aioli .
It was hot, hearty, tasty and filling (not quite as filling as a burrito but nearly!).
If you’re a little world-​weary of the old tacos and burritos, defo give these a shot!

Tried this on Saturday after buying a voucher from one of those daily deal sites.
Ordered the Tinga Torta and the El Magnifico and shared with my dining companion. Both were really delicious, if a little messy to eat. Think I preferred the Tinga Torta overall. The pork was really tasty and perfectly cooked.
The deal included a little pot of Mexican Mac n’ Cheese which, to be honest, was pretty disappointing. It wasn’t very cheesy and the pasta was overcooked.
Better to just go for the sandwiches.
In a city awash with mediocre burrito bars, it’s nice to find a place offering the flavours of Mexico with a new and delicious twist.
